Now that Fernandes got 20.5% of Malaysia Airlines for almost a song and soon to call the shots, one wonders what his next prey would be?

Would he want to control Malaysia Airports?

That proposition would not be too far fetched. In a matter of fact, it would be very much up his avenue. After having a very successful low cost carrier and two days ago inked a 'share swap' deal which got him the controls of a much needed Tier-5 airline, controlling airports would synergise the whole Tune Group business-turned-empire. Especially he already tried to use Sime Darby and build a dedicated low cost carrier airport somewhere near Labu.

That failed.

And he did not stop there. He was said to try his luck using Perak Menteri Besar Dato Seri Dr Zambry A Kadir. Parit Buntar is the most commercially viable spot for the dedicated LCCT airport for the North.

Malaysia Airports is a very good corporation to go after. They manage 39 airports in the country and four others abroad. The annual turnover is RM 1.1 billion where profits are recorded at RM 266 million. The most prized asset of Malaysia Airports is the new KLIA II LCCT, which would be completed end of next year. Currently, KLIA (with present LCCT) is handling 34 million passengers with 244,000 aircraft movements annually. In five years time, it would be raised to 50% more, where KLIA II would be expecting 30 million travelers through the dedicated LCCT terminal complex. Thus, it would be best to go for the kill in the soonest opportunity arises.

For the record, AirAsia have been owing Malaysia Airports a lot of dues. In 2008, then Minister of Transport reported to Parliament AirAsia owed RM 110 million. As of earlier this year, AirAsia is still owing RM 103 million. That is almost 10% of Malaysia Airports' annual turnover.

Conspiracy theories come with the territory here. And at Barbec's Restaurant on the other side of this sprawling city, six men sit on a covered porch and convene a meeting of the North Texans for 9/11 Truth group and talk about the government's lies about 9/11.

The group has 50 active members; 200 on the mailing list. And they number among many thousands who, after years of investigations, don't believe the official version of how the World Trade Center collapsed, who was responsible or what the government knew and when.

Politics doesn't have anything to do with it; two were once staunch, Bush-voting conservatives; two are progressives and two weren't even interested in current events until after the 2001 attacks.

"Before 9/11, I was a working class person, going through life, pretty much accepting everything given and told to me," said Bryan Black, a 50-year-old carpenter from Commerce, Texas, "I'm starting to see things. I'm more open to skeptical conversation."

The skeptics – they prefer the term "9/11 truth activists" instead of "truthers" – have persisted, even thrived in the decade since 2001, with proponents from former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel to comedian Rosie O'Donnell. And unlike the years that Kennedy assassination conspiracies took to develop, they have mobilized with lightning-like speed on the Internet, with YouTube videos of the trade center collapsing again and again.

"There's really a foundation of reality here," said Ted Walter, who has worked unsuccessfully to prod New York City officials into reopening an investigation of how 7 World Trade Center collapsed on the afternoon of Sept 11. "We believe that if all of the American public saw footage of building 7 on the nightly news, it would lead to widespread skepticism of 9/11."

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 — Nurul Izzah Anwar once again challenged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to debate policies outlined in Pakatan Rakyat's Orange Book with her father, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR vice-president made the statement today while addressing Umno's denial that it was behind a recent sex tape scandal implicating Anwar.

"Indeed, if these claims have any basis, the acid test is for the Umno MPs to urge their president to agree to a public policy debate between the leader of Pakatan Rakyat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"This will reveal Datuk Seri Najib Razak as either a true political warrior or merely a political pirate like some of his predecessors who continue to fire salvos from the sidelines," she said.

Anwar, the 63-year old political veteran, has charged that top Umno leaders had masterminded the sex tape scandal in a bid to bury his political career.

Earlier today, Umno supreme council member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan stressed that attacks on Anwar have always been about his and PR's policies, and that Umno would never stoop so low.

The video hit media headlines on Monday when a mysterious "Datuk T" invited selected media personnel to Carcosa Seri Negara to view the recording.

The trio of Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik, businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay, and Perkasa treasurer and former Umno senator Datuk Shuib Lazim have since been unmasked as "Datuk T".

An unbelievable spectacle took place in the bizarre murder trial of Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shaaribuu on June 29. Karpal Singh, the lawyer for the victim's family, attempted to ask a question about a "government official" allegedly seen in a photograph with the victim. At that point, both the prosecutor and the defense lawyer sprang to their feet in unison to block the question.
This resulted in a shouting match, with Singh on one side, the victim's cousin on the stand, and the combined forces of the prosecution and defense blocking the line of questioning.
Earlier, a similar division of forces occurred when a Mongolian witness – a girlfriend of the victim told the court that immigration entry computer records of the deceased and her two Mongolian companions, including the witness, had been mysteriously erased. When Singh asked the court to take proper note of this highly irregular event, both the prosecution and defense objected to the evidence as irrelevant, and insisted that it be expunged.
Now, isn't that a strange phenomenon? A prosecutor is supposed to seek justice for the deceased victim's family against the murderers, so how come the prosecutor is now ganging up with defense lawyers to oppose the victim's family lawyer? Is this a case of prosecutor vs. defense or a case of prosecutor plus defense vs. victim's family? Obviously, the prosecution and defense seem to have plenty of common interests. What are those common interests?
The answer may lie in the identity of that "government official" that allegedly appeared in the photograph with Altantuya that both prosecution and defense tried so hard not to allow into court.

On Day 10 of the trial, Altantuya's cousin Burmaa Oyunchimeg testified that after Altantuya returned from France, she went to Hong Kong to meet Burmaa, and showed her a photograph of Altantuya and her lover, Abdul Razak Baginda, who is accused of conspiring in her murder, and "a government official" taking a meal together. Answering Singh later, after the shouting match in the court had subsided, she said this "government official" was Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
She could distinctly remember the name, she said, because it bears a similarity to Altantuya's acknowledged lover's name, and she even asked Altantuya whether they were brothers. Burmaa further added that the photo had also been shown to Altantuya's father.
Now, the revelation of Najib in the photo would not have caused such a sensation if not for the deputy prime minister's oft-repeated denial of any knowledge of Altantuya, including a public denial during a recent by-election, when even the name of Allah was invoked.
What does Najib have to say now that his denial is directly contradicted by the witness Burmaa? His press secretary Tengku Sarifuddin Tengku Ahmad issued a brief statement on June 30 saying that the deputy prime minister had declined to comment for two reasons. One, any comment might be sub judice, since the case is in court, and, two, Najib had already repeatedly denied an acquaintance with the girl in the past, "as such, the issue over the picture does not arise," the spokesman said.
Sub judice? That's ridiculous. How could a simple statement like "I have never had my photo taken with Altantuya" be sub judice? In fact, being the number-two leader in the government, Najib is absolutely duty-bound to say outright whether he was ever photographed with Altantuya, in view of the serious implications of Burmaa's allegation.
The issue over the picture does not arise? Equally ridiculous. In fact, the opposite is true. Precisely because of Najib's past denials, it is all the more imperative that Najib must stand up now to clarify.
Guilty conscience?
There is only one explanation for Najib's past denials and his present silence: A guilty conscience. If Najib's conduct with respect to the case had been above-board, there would be no reason for him to deny an acquaintance with his friend Abdul Razak's friend Altantuya. Similarly, if the allegation of the picture is false, it is inconceivable and totally incomprehensible that Najib should have chosen not to refute Burmaa's allegation.
In fact, Najib seems so worried about the publicity of the picture that his secretary called editors in the local press and requested them not to blow up the issue. This resulted in the explosive story being absent from the local headlines the next day. (In one Chinese paper – Guang Ming – the Najib story hit the front page in the evening edition, but disappeared completely by the next morning). And of course, Anwar Ibrahim's criticism of the trial and his specific call on Najib to clarify the issue of the picture during a press conference was generally blacked out.
However, despite such new suppression, irreversible damage is done. There is little doubt that Najib is deeply troubled and his political position seriously weakened.
Manipulation
That this murder case has been subjected to serious political manipulation has been obvious from the very start, when the police commenced their highly questionable investigation, right through to the present trial when the conduct of lawyers for both sides appear increasingly dubious. Instead of the prosecutor seeking the truth and the defense lawyer fighting for the accused, both seem preoccupied with an overriding mission – to prevent the whole truth from emerging. Their combined efforts to cover up the issue of the immigration record and the identity of Najib Razak in the picture are just two examples of such conduct.
The highly irregular nature of this case was also marked by frequent and mysterious changes of legal personnel, resulting in a complete changeover of the defense team, the prosecutors and the judge even before the hearings began. These weird phenomena were crowned by the shock appearance of a new team of prosecutors who were appointed only hours before the hearing was supposed to begin, thus necessitating an impromptu postponement of the trial for two weeks. None of these changes of legal personnel has been properly explained, except for the resignation of Abdul Razak's first lawyer; Zulkifli Noordin, quit, he said, because of "serious interference by third parties".
Under these circumstances, the public must brace itself for more aberrant scenarios from this court, while Najib and his supporters may have to keep their fingers crossed in the days ahead when many more witnesses have yet to walk through what must appear to Najib as a minefield.
On a more serious note, this unseemly trial does not exactly add credit to Malaysia's system, whose already wretched image has just been further mauled by the shameful finale of another sham trial – that of Eric Chia of Perwaja Steel fame. After seven long years of investigations and three years of court hearings, that case was thrown out due to lack of prima facie evidence. With that, the long-drawn out Perwaja Steel saga ended without finding any culprit for the mountain of losses (more than RM 10 billion) suffered by taxpayers.
There has been a spate of criminal cases being dismissed of late due to inadequate investigations and poor prosecution, indicating that the downward slide of our criminal justice system, which began in the Mahathir era, has gotten worse under Abdullah Badawi's leadership. With the criminal justice system in a shambles, the rule of law is in jeopardy. And that is an important benchmark to judge the efficacy of Abdullah's administration vis-à-vis his reform agenda.

For many, conspiracy theories aren't terrifying; they're more comforting than the idea that an event as terrifying as Sept. 11 could be so – random.

Conspiracies can be a "security blanket" for explaining away the horrific, asserts Patrick Leman, a University of London professor who researches 9/11 theories. "It stops us from having to confront the unpredictability of life."

Jonathan Kay, a columnist with the Canadian newspaper The National Post and the author of a book about conspiracy theories, said it's normal for people to seek out complicated and detailed explanations of big events.

"There is something in the human mind that rebels against the idea of random forces or individuals being able to bring down powerful people or powerful icons," said Kay.

There's no real estimate of the numbers of people in the 9/11 "truth" movements – there's no one leader of the skeptics. A group called Remember Building 7 presented New York's City Council with a petition in 2009 signed by 80,000 people calling for an independent probe into the attacks. Other groups include Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, Scholars for 9/11 Truth and the 9/11 Commission Campaign, founded by Gravel.

The "truthers" generally have about a dozen beliefs surrounding what happened on that day, although there are some variations on who was responsible for the attacks and why:

_ Explosives brought down the World Trade Center, not hijacked jetliners.

_ There were warnings of the impending attacks from 11 different countries, and fighter jets could have intercepted at least one of the four planes that day.

_ Criminal conspiracies within the government caused the attacks.

So who has 'misunderstood' the ISA?

It is now being claimed by some that the Internal Security Act has been 'misunderstood' by a significant section of the Malaysian public. But Farish Noor argues it is the ruling elite who have 'misunderstood' the ISA and what it is meant to do. And for that reason, one understands why Malaysians from all walks of life now want us to move on from the despotism of the past and to discard such laws that have been abused for so long, too many times.

It is now being claimed by some that the Internal Security Act has been 'misunderstood' by a significant section of the Malaysian public, and if only they can be made to 'understand' it they would come to realise that it is after all a good tool that ought to be kept in the coffers of the state.

That such a claim can be made today is interesting, for at least it makes the concession that there are enough Malaysians out there who reject the manifold uses and abuses of the ISA so as to warrant the call to have it abolished, or at least so radically revised that it cannot be abused further. However, we are left with the question: who, exactly, has 'misunderstood' the ISA? The Malaysian public or the politicians who run the country?

Lest we forget, let us remind ourselves what the ISA is all about. The ISA document describes exactly the sort of security threat that it is meant to deal with, and it identifies these threats as military and pseudo-military threats to the nation. It regards as dangerous groups that accumulate and distribute arms, uniforms, banners and flags. In short it is a law that was and is designed to deal with para-military and militia threats to the country that may come from underground terrorist groups or hidden armies that have been set up with the purpose of conducting war against the legitimate state of Malaysia .

Over the decades, however, we have seen countless Malaysian citizens of all walks of life rounded up under the ISA, ostensibly for the sake of public safety and security. Journalists have been detained 'for their own safety'. Academics, activists, social workers, religious leaders, students and politicians alike have been the victims of this law. It is for this simple reason that the Malaysian public now feels that the interpretation of the ISA law has far exceeded its limit and that it has been abused for politically instrumental ends.

Proof of this comes in the form of the many Malaysian politicians who today stand as members of Parliament or the various state assemblies of the land, who were themselves victims of the ISA in the past. If indeed these politicians were real threats to national security, would they have been elected by the Malaysian electorate? The fact that they were voted to represent the people means that the people at least do no see them as security threats; so who does?

This brings us back to the question of who exactly has 'misunderstood' the ISA. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the Malaysian public wishes to see blood and mayhem in our streets. Most Malaysians would agree that if some nutter wishes to fly a plane into the KLCC complex or plant a bomb in Parliament, such a lunatic has to be apprehended immediately in order to save lives.

But what the Malaysian public objects to is when laws such as the ISA are interpreted at whim by politicians who take liberties with its meaning and import and when laws such as the ISA are used as the most convenient tool to silence the legitimate political opposition in the country.

Furthermore, we all know that the ISA remains as an odd colonial relic from the past, which has been discarded or replaced with laws that are more just and humane in many other postcolonial societies. Yet in Malaysia today – a country where moral policing has become normalised and where a woman is about to be whipped for drinking beer – the ISA is but the tip of the iceberg of routine state control and policing that has gone too far.

Malaysians all want a safe and stable country where everyone can live their lives in ease and safety, but perhaps the time has come to reject not merely the laws but rather the abuse of the law that allows for detention without trial for people who have neither armed themselves or formed guerrilla groups to threaten the Malaysian nation-state. Unless and until the powers-that-be understand this simple fact that ought to be evident even to a child, we would argue that it is the ruling elite who have 'misunderstood' the ISA and what it is meant to do. And for that reason, one understands why Malaysians from all walks of life now want us to move on from the despotism of the past and to discard such laws that have been abused for so long, too many times.

INTERNAL SECURITY ACT, 1960 (Act 82) is an Act to provide for the internal security of Malaysia, preventive detention, the prevention of subversion, the suppression of organised violence against persons and property in specified areas of Malaysia, and for matters incidental thereto. [West Malaysia - 1st August. 1960; East Malaysia - 16th September 1963.]

"WHEREAS action has been taken and further action is threatened by a substantial body of persons both inside and outside Malaysia-

(1) To cause, and to cause a substantial number of citizens to fear, organized violence against persons and property; and

(2) To procure the alteration, otherwise than by lawful means, of the lawful Government of Malaysia by law established;

AND WHEREAS the action taken and threatened is prejudicial to the security of Malaysia;

AND WHEREAS Parliament considers it necessary to stop or prevent that action;"

1. WHAT IS ISA?

The Internal Security Act 1960 (ISA) is a preventive detention law in force in Malaysia.

Any person may be detained by the police for up to 60 days without trial for an act which allegedly prejudices the security of the country.

After 60 days, one may be further detained for a period of two years each, to be approved by the Minister of Home Affairs, thus making indefinite detention without trial.

In 1989, the powers of the Minister under the legislation were made immune to judicial review by virtue of amendments to the Act. Now, only the courts are 'allowed' to examine and review technical matters pertaining to the ISA arrest.

2. WHEN DID THE ISA BECOME LAW?

The precursor to the ISA was the Emergency Ordinance 1948 -1960 promulgated by the British Colonial Regime to counter the then Communist Insurgency.

The ISA came into force on 1^st August 1960.

3. WHY WAS THE ISA INTRODUCED?

The Government of Malaya legislated the ISA as a continuation of the Emergency Ordinance 1948 to specifically deal with the threat of the Communist Insurgency.

When the ISA was introduced in 1960, solemn promises were made in Parliament by then prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, his deputy Tun Abdul Razak and the Minister of Home Affairs Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, that the law will be used judiciously and only against communists, terrorists and subversives.

The Communist Insurgency officially ended in 1989 with the signing of the Haadyai Peace Accord.

4. WHAT ARE THE GOVERNMENT'S REASONS FOR RETAINING ISA AFTER THE PEACE ACCORD OF 1989?

No country can do without preventive detention laws to safeguard internal security.

Security and stability are pre-requisites to ensure economic prosperity. Laws like the ISA are indispensable tools for maintaining the racial, religious and social harmony.

Preventive laws like the ISA are needed to deal with the potential problems and conflicts in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-cultural society.

The ISA is not only about preventive detention. It deals with such matters as ban on quasi-military organizations and subversive publications, restriction on the movement of undesirable persons and proclamation of security areas.

The ISA is needed in this age of cross-border terrorism to safeguard the sovereignty of the nation.

5. HOW MANY ARE IN DETENTION?

Since August 1960, 10,662 people have been arrested under the various preventive detention laws.

4,139 were detained under Internal Security Act.

2,066 were served with restriction orders governing their activities and where they live.

12 people were executed for offences under the ISA between 1984 and 1993.

As of July 2009, 13 people are still under detention.

6. WHO ARE THE PEOPLE MOST AFFECTED BY THE ISA DETENTIONS?

The spouses, children and close family members who are deprived of their loved ones and; often times the primary source of their household income.

The family members are faced with the social stigma, and in many cases are ostracised by relatives, neighbours, and friends.

The family members have also known to face 'harassment' from the authorities.

7. WHY THE ISA IS CONSIDERED A DRACONIAN LAW BY CIVIL SOCIETY?

The ISA is contrary to fundamental principles of international law, including the right to liberty of the person, to freedom from arbitrary arrest, to be informed of the reasons for arrest, to the presumption of innocence, and to a fair and open trial in a court of law.

The ISA goes against the right of a person to defend himself in an open and fair trial. The person can be incarcerated up to 60 days of interrogation without access to legal counsel.

A person detained under the ISA during the first 60 days is held incommunicado, with no access to the outside world.

Torture goes concurrently with ISA detention. Former detainees have testified to being subjected to severe physical and psychological torture. This may include one or more of the following: physical assault, forced nudity, sleep deprivation, round-the-clock interrogation, death threats, threats of bodily harm to family members, including threats of rape and bodily harm to their children.

Prolonged torture and deprivation have led to detainees signing state-manufactured 'confessions' under severe duress.

The Internal Security Act (ISA) remains the core of the permanent, arbitrary powers to detain without trial available to the Executive.

The ISA has been consistently used against people who criticise the government and defend human rights. The Act is an instrument maintained by the ruling government to control public life and civil society.

Since 1960 when the Act was enacted, thousands of people including trade unionists, student leaders, labour activists, political activists, religious groups, academicians, NGO activists have been arrested under the ISA. Many political activists in the past have been detained for more than a decade.

Beyond the violation of basic rights experienced by particular individuals, the ISA has had a wider, intimidating effect on civil society, and a marked influence on the nature of political participation and accountability in Malaysia.

The ISA has been used to suppress peaceful political, academic and social activities, and legitimate constructive criticism by NGOs and other social pressure groups. It limits the political space for important debates on issues of economic policy, corruption and other social challenges.

8. WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR ABOLISHING THE ISA?

The ISA permits the executive to detain any one it likes without a court trial, without any possibility of judicial review of the minister's decision and without any limits on how many two-year periods of detention may be ordered.

The ISA is a blatant violation of all international canons of rule of law, natural justice and due process.

Article 149 of the Constitution under which the ISA is enacted permits special legislation when subversive action has been taken or threatened "by any substantial body of persons". The use of the ISA to detain individual dissidents indulging in non-violent opposition to the Government in peace time is a violation of the letter and spirit of Article 149.

National sovereignty is a shield against foreign aggression but it cannot be used as a weapon against one's own people. There is a difference between national security and security of the government. The 1SA has often been used to safeguard the latter and not the former.

The overall effect of the ISA is that the executive is allowed to play the role of accuser, investigator as well as adjudicator. No government can allow one man to exercise such complete power over another's life and liberty.

9. HOW WILL THE NATION COUNTER THE THREAT OF CROSS-BORDER TERRORISM IF THE ISA IS ABOLISHED?

The Government can introduce an Anti-Terrorism Act specifically designed to counter cross-border terrorism. However due process must be incorporated in this legislation to ensure the rights of the individual.

10. WHY SHOULD I SUPPORT THE MOVEMENT TO ABOLISH THE ISA?

You, your family, your friends are not 'safe or immune' from detention under ISA.

A police officer with the rank of Inspector and above can arrest without a warrant and detain you for a period of 60 days with or without 'good' reasons for suspicion.

You need to defend your democratic right to freedom of speech, assembly and association as guaranteed by Article 10 of the Federal Constitution.

11. WHAT CAN I AS AN INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN DO TO SUPPORT THE "NO2ISA" MOVEMENT?

Educate yourself first, then your family, friends and co-workers on the basics of the ISA.

Lobby your MPs and Aduns to pressure the Government to abolish ISA.

Join and contribute to initiatives organised by civil society groups to abolish ISA.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology conducted a probe that took six years to complete of the tower collapses; the last report found that fire caused the collapse of 7 World Trade Center, a skyscraper north of the twin towers. In the collapses of the twin towers, the agency found that extreme heat from the jetliner crashes caused some steel beams to lose strength, causing further failures in the building until the entire structure succumbed.

The investigation "was the most comprehensive examination of a structural failure ever conducted," said Shyam Sunder, lead investigator of the collapse investigation and led to 40 building code changes to make safer, terror-proof skyscrapers. NIST maintains a website with its reports and computer-based animations that reconstruct its findings to reach out to the public.

Sunder acknowledges it hasn't reached everyone.

"We really can't explain why some people question our findings about the WTC collapses when we have done our best to present those findings and how they were derived as clearly as possible," Sunder wrote in an e-mail.

It begs the question: why is there such a distrust of government when it comes to 9/11? Is it due to feeling alienated from our fractured political system, a bad economy, or something else?

For Bob McIlvaine's son, it was the injuries found on his son Bobby's head, arm and skin that made him think the hijacked jetliner and building collapse couldn't have done it. He believes that explosives were detonated in the towers' basement before the planes hit the towers.

McIlvaine has not been able to determine where his son was when he died, but from the injuries – which include skin that was burned post-mortem – he assumes that his son was in or near the tower's lobby. McIlvaine questions the government's explanation that a fireball came down through the elevator shafts and burned those in the lobby.

"I spend three hours a day, every day, doing research on 9/11," said McIlvaine. "To me, this was a murder investigation. My son was murdered."

Tom Theimer watched the World Trade Center crumble while drinking coffee and watching television in his suburban Dallas home. Shaken, he bought flags for his porch and bumper stickers for his car reading "We will never forget."

A few years later, a friend of Theimer's wife casually mentioned that 9/11 "was an inside job." Theimer was livid and turned to the Internet, to prove the friend wrong.

The websites, the books and the documentaries he saw online persuaded him. He was wrong, and so was the system.

"I was duped," Theimer said. "It really hurt. I cried. I couldn't sleep for months."

Theimer said that he and others in Dallas are planning to show a new 9/11 documentary on the 10th anniversary. Remember Building 7 is trying to raise $1 million by Sept. 11 to support a new investigation into the collapses.

A conference on alternate 9/11 theories is being held in Toronto on Sept. 11.

The conference is headed by the International Center for 9/11 Studies, which was founded by James Gourley, a 31-year-old Dallas-area attorney who began to question the events of Sept. 11 during law school, while watching an activist make his argument on C-Span.

Gourley is aware of the theories about how skeptics are simply trying to justify and explain a random, horrific event.

"It's basically a backwards way of saying we're psychologically deranged," he said. "It's questioning the psychology of the people instead of questioning the facts."

Even in the heart of the conspiracy theory world, some find the alternate theories hard to believe.

At Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Scott Dew hawked commemorative Kennedy assassination newspapers to tourists, standing under an oak tree, just steps from a white "X" painted on the asphalt that marks where President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.

Dew's newspapers – which cost $5 each and come encased in a plastic sleeve – devote several pages and diagrams to the varying theories of bullet projectiles and second shooters on the grassy knoll.

Kennedy's assassination was "a conspiracy by the government," Dew says. "Back then, in '63, this was a money and power deal."

But Sept. 11? A conspiracy? He shakes his head.

"I believe bin Laden was the attacker. I don't believe the other theories that President Bush or the government had anything to do with it. That would just be a little too sinful," he said.

Darah & Nyawa PAS Hanya Untuk DAP

Tantawi hanya cuba tunjuk hero depan budak budak pemuda PAS saja,Tak lebih dari itu.Sekadar mengembek dalam kandang sendiri. Darah dan Nyawa khawarij PAS sekarang ini hanyalah untuk DAP.Mereka sanggup mengadai jiwa dan raga mereka asalkan DAP tidak diapa apakan.

Failing The Spot The Difference Game

AUG 11 — It does seem like honesty is a rare commodity in Malaysia. Not once before, during and after the Bersih rally have the BN government, police and senior politicians spoken truthfully about the rally.

Now we have the country's No. 2 cop alluding that police put down the Bersih rally because otherwise things would have gone awry like the London riots.

This is the same line of argument put forward by Umno bloggers and the mainstream media (one can only surmise that instructions were handed down by Putrajaya).

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar is rewriting history. It is an open secret that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, after an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, decided to offer the Bersih people the use of a stadium.

Soon after that meeting, he chaired a meeting of government officials and announced that he had decided to offer a stadium to the Bersih cause, prompting a round of congratulations by attendees who were pleased that a reasonable solution to the stand off was in the offing.

That stadium offer was revoked the next day. Why? It is anyone's guess but a representative of an NGO met the PM a day before July 9 and said that the PM was talking about an uprising to overthrow the government and about resistance from groups within Umno.

It is interesting that some of the PM's insiders are now blaming the Home Ministry and police for the mishandling of Bersih, saying that both groups told Najib that the Bersih people would not vacate the stadium for weeks ala Tahrir Square in Egypt and would force the collapse of the BN government.

These insiders say that Najib's gut feeling was to allow the rally to take place but was persuaded otherwise.

All that sounds nice on hindsight but the fact is that he took the advice of people — home minister and the police — who don't have a clue on the DNA of Malaysians. Ninety-five per cent of people who marched on July 9 probably have jobs, unlike the unemployed in Egypt and the yobs in London.

The Bersih people were marching for electoral reform. A sizeable number are from the middle class, and the middle class all over the world are not looters or people who are willing to lose their employment by staying in a stadium for days or weeks!

So for the police and Home Ministry to liken the Bersih rally to the situation in Egypt and London is dishonest.

The police clamped down on the rally because their political masters in Putrajaya told them to do so.

Now Khalid is trying to put a sheen of credibility on the over-reaction by the police by drawing a parallel between Bersih and the London riots.

How far has the rot set in?

I was laughing my ass of loud on Khalid Bakar's comments. Not only me, but in twitter space, everyone too is having a good laugh at how the deputy IGP puts the London riots with Bersih protests. However, in this case, Khalid has failed in his language because it shows that there are people who are unable to discern the difference between riots and protests.

A few of us got "maki hamun" by some at twitter about talking bullshit in this subject matter. But I just simply asked those a question of whether they are able to understand the clear definition of riots and protests. Even the dictionary also defined it clear and concise of what is protests and riots. Therefore, if you are unable to discern the difference, either you have fared poorly in English in school or, as I have told someone, MSM inaccuracies and spinning as been feeding you with shit. Full stop, and I don't even bother to reply at all.

The London riots originally started with the killing of an innocent man. Similarly, the Los Angeles riots in 1992 started with the beating of Rodney King and the first acquittal of the four police officers involved. While it's clear that the four were guilty, acquitting them got the city into furor and thus days of carnage started. Bersih 2.0 in contrast was just only a one day, 3 hour affair on the streets to send an electoral message to Najib and Co.

I sometimes asked the nay sayers whether they have read the history of Malayan Union, which I always remembered that part while in secondary school. UMNO was formed out of the protest against the Malayan Union. They came out in demos to make a collective statement to the English that they don't want the plan. Otherwise, Malaya then Malaysia would not have exist. This of course contradicts Dr. M's famous statement in the aftermath of the Perak takeover in 2009, which he said "Demo is not our culture". Sounds contrasting, yes?

As what Pete said today, the riots in London happened for no reason apart to loot, plunder and making mayhem along the way for nothing. If anyone of you who have watched The Dark Knight, you would see the tag title, "Welcome to a World Without Rules." A world without rules is like you can do anything you want including riots above there. Good and bad allowed, no holds barred. But as what was witnessed in Bersih, there have been a clear set of rules - a three hour affair, once message has been sent to the King, disperse. Simple as it. Bersih's protest, as he said, was to make clear political statement to the Najib administration and the Election commission.

The BERSIH march was a political statement. There was no political statement in the UK riots. It was all about plundering, looting, robbing and stealing.

No, we can't compare BERSIH to the UK riots. This would be like banning drivers/bikers who do not drink and only allowing drunks on the road because drinking and driving causes only 1.4% of traffic accident deaths.

Did not the Malays oppose the Malayan Union that the British were trying to impose on Malaya through a street demonstration? And was it not because of this demonstration that the British abandoned the plan for the Malayan Union and instead the Federation of Malaya was formed?

Of course, when the ruckus happened on 9 July, this shows that Najib has violated his own tenets, whereas the many events happened during Pak Lah's time indicate that he too violated his own Islam Hadhari tenets.

The main mistake that politicians made out of paranoia was to associate protest with riots. This was how the tone of antagonism towards Bersih started. The 1969 riots happened because the ruling party could not stomach losing the customary 2/3rds control fair and square in the elections. From there that's where they got berserk, fueled with delusions. A side note though, my late grandfather was absolutely upset later when it was known that his ex-colleague Harun Idris started the whole thing.

Back to Khalid Bakar, the mistake was assuming that people are stupid. In fact, the statement simply reflects of making himself look stupid or "membodohkan rakyat". I always held that man as an unqualified person sitting behind Ismail Omar and a liar on the fateful night on 9 November 2008. In fact, there are more and more people that start to laugh at his face since this morning for the nay sayers, I am not the only one needed to be criticized of.

GEREJA MURTAD!

Teman melihat ada golongan yang cuba menafikan penglibatan pihak gereja dalam gejala memurtadkan umat Islam khususnya bangsa Melayu didalam negara ini. Sehingga ada dikalangan pimpinan PAS sendiri mempersoalkan tindakan JAIS menyiasat Methodist Church Damansara Utama yang dipercayai menjalankan kegiatan dakyah keristian dikalangan orang Melayu Muslim pada 03 Ramadhan 1432/ 03.08.20011 lepas. Dikala umat Islam sedang menjalani 'ibadah puasa, kita dihina sekali lagi dengan isu murtad!

Peristiwa yang sama berlaku pada tahun 1997, lebih tepat Ramadhan 1997. Dihari pertama umat Islam sedang berpuasa, segelintir kristian la'natullah telah menculik dan melarikan Aishah Bukhori sedang ayahanda Aishah, Tuan Haji Bukhori mengimamkan solat tarawih di Masjid Taman Rimba Terjun, Pontian. Dalam sekelip mata mereka berjaya membawa Aishah menyeberangi Selat Johor memasuki Singapura tanpa paspot, dan kemudian terus diterbangkan ke Australia sehelai sepinggang. Ini menimbulkan syak dikalangan umat Islam bahawa terdapat konspirasi terancang untuk menculik dan membawa Aishah Bukhori, macam mana seorang rakyat Malaysia beragama Islam boleh dibawa lari tanpa sebarang paspot?

Cuma bezanya pada masa itu, PAS menjadi juara kompang kampung mencanang kes murtadnya Aishah Bukhori. Teman yang menjadi peguam kes tersebut diarak kehulu kehilir berceramah diatas pentas PAS menceritakan kisah murtad Aishah Bukhori. Puluhan ribu poster ditampal oleh para mujahidin dan bakal syuhada PAS, atas pokok, tiang letrik, bus-stop dan macam-macam tempat. Ada penceramah PAS yang mengambil kesempatan menumpang semangkuk pentas bersama teman. Kalau tengok ceramah dema yop lagi ganas dan brutal dari teman. Siap rimbok meja, air liur bersepai-sepai terhambur dengan maki-hamun terhadap kristian, kafir, UMNO dan Kerajaan. Dan tak lupa derma jihad juga dikutip konon untuk perjuangan jihad menentang murtad. Mana pergi duit derma jihad tu jangan tanya teman yop; walaupun teman tengok ada antara mereka yang boleh bertukar kereta beli rumah hasil jual kaset ceramah teman!

Tapi hari ini, kaum yang rimbok meja bersembur airliur berjihad menentang murtad tu yop dah tukar qiblat. Hari ni dema rimbok meja marah kalau ada orang ganggu gereja yang nak murtadkan umat Islam. Pejuang tulin saperti Dr. Hasan Ali yang ikhlas mahu mencegah gejala murtad mereka tuduh sebagai agen UMNO yang dibayar oleh oleh PM untuk merosakkan ukhwah dan perpaduan PAS dengan biaDAP dan para kafir harbi la'natullah. Sampai tugas Dr. Hasan Ali sebagai Exco Agama dema nak hijack yop, dema nak JAIS jumpa dema terus tanpa melalui Dr. Hasan Ali, Exco yang jaga JAIS! Malah kaum Anwarinas ni siap nak pecat Dr. Hasan Ali lagi yop. Dulu dema maki-hamun UMNO kerana kononnya membiarkan gejala murtad, hari ini dema maki-hamun UMNO konon membayar Dr. Hasan Ali untuk mencegah murtad! Tak ke gila punya kerja namanya ni yop. Yang konsisten dalam perangai itu ialah maki-hamun! Yang penting kot mana pun UMNO dan PM mesti dimaki-hamun. Rasanya kaum Anwarinas ni kalau tak maki-hamun UMNO dan PM sehari dema boleh kena demam kura yop!

Berbalik kepada cerita gereja terlibat dalam gejala murtad, banyak bukti yang teman ada yop. Pertama kes Aishah Bukhori sendiri. Aishah semasa mengisytiharkan diri dia murtad kepada ayah dia Hj Bukhori melalui telefon pada 19.10.1997 sedang berada disebuah gereja di Panchor Jaya, Rasah, Negeri Sembilan. Apabila Haji Bukhori dan keluarganya pergi ke gereja tersebut, berlaku pertengkaran kerana mereka tidak benarkan Aishah diambil oleh keluarganya. Keluarga Aishah terpaksa balik hampa kerana tidak mampu berbuat apa-apa.

Kita jangan lupa peranan aktif yang dimainkan oleh Bar Council dalam isu murtad Aishah Bukhori. Malahan sebenarnya murtadnya Aishah Bukhori membabitkan penglibatan secara langsung seorang peguam kafir ahli Malaysian Bar iaitu Leornard Teoh Hooi Leong. Beliaulah orang yang membuat permohonan ke Mahkamah untuk perintah habeas corpus untuk membebaskan Aishah daripada jagaan keluarga beliau.

Dalam permohonan bertarikh 28.11.1997 itu, secara jelas Leornard Teoh menyebut pada perenggan 6, bahawa dia dilantik "untuk memberi nasihat kepada Aishah berkenaan dengan pertukaran agamanya kepada Kristian dan elah menyediakan surat Akuan Sumpah untuk Aishah menolak dan meninggalkan agama Islam."

Pada perenggan 23 Leonard Teoh berkata bahawa "Aishah sedang dikurung secara salah oleh keluarganya. Dan Leornard mendakwa tindakan ibubapa, abang dan bapa saudara Aishah telah melanggar hak kebebasan Aishah menganut agama pilihannya iaitu Kristian Khatolik".

Dan inilah Majlis Peguam yang sama yang Ambeega Sreenavasan pernah menjadi Presidennya yang kemudiannya ditabal oleh PAS menjadi kalipah dalam himpunan haram 09.07.2011!!!

Begitu juga kita jangan lupa rekod pertama penglibatan gereja didalam kes murtad orang Melayu beragama Islam pada tahun 1987. Disebuah gereja di Petaling Jaya, seorang anak Melayu beragama Islam ditabalkan buat pertama kalinya dalam sejarah Malaysia sebagai paderi Melayu dibumi orang Islam ini. Jamaluddin Osman, mengikut rekod adalah anak Melayu pertama diisytihar sebagai paderi secara terbuka disebuah gereja di Petaling Jaya. Beliau juga terlibat secara langsung dan aktif untuk memurtadkan anak-anak Melayu ke agama kristian.

Jamaluddin Osman, atau nama kristiannya Padre Joshua Jamaluddin, telah ditahan oleh polis dibawah Akta Keselamatan Negeri kerana kegiatannya cuba mengkristiankan anak-anak orang Islam dianggap mengancam keselamatan dalam negara. Namun sekali lagi Majlis Peguam dan beberapa NGO memainkan peranan aktif mencabar penahanan Jamaluddin Osman dibawah ISA. Mahkamah Persekutuan tiada pilihan selain daripada membebaskan Jamaluddin Osman kerana peruntukkan ISA tidak membenarkan seseorang ditahan kerana memurtadkan orang Islam.

Inilah dia Majlis Peguam yang sama yang Ambeega Sreenavasan menjadi Presidennya, yang kemudian diangkat oleh PAS menajdi kalipah mereka dalam himpunan haram 09.07.2011!!!

Kegiatan gereja yang terlibat secara langsung dalam kegiatan memurtadkan umat Islam di Malaysia paling jelas berlaku dalam kes murtadnya Azlina Jailani. Teman kemukakan bukti dokumen diatas, iaitu sijil membaptiskan (atau mengkristiankan) Azlina Jailani. Ini adalah dokumen Mahkamah, bukan rekaan. Pada masa itu, PAS terima dokumen ini sebagai bukti, dan antara yang terlibat secara langsung dengan teman membantah murtadnya Azlina Jailani. Tak tahulah sekarang, takut nanti Ustad Hadi mintak teman kemukakan 4 orang saksi. Ialah, semenjak berukhwah dengan biaDAP ni, serban pun boleh longgar yop!

Jelas daripada sijil diatas pembabitan secara langsung sebuah gereja, iaitu Church of our Lady Fatima di Brickfields dalam kes murtad seorang Melayu Muslim bernama Azlina Jailani. Dan kes Azlina Jailani, atau nama kristiannya Lina Joy (KP No: 640108-10-5038) telah dibawa ke Mahkamah Tinggi (MTKL No: R2-24-30-2000), kemudiannya dirayu ke Mahkamah Rayuan (RS No: W-01-29-2001) dan akhirnya dibicarakan sehingga ke Mahkamah Persekutuan (RS No. 01-02-2006W). Akhirnya Mahkamah Persekutuan dengan beraninya membuat keputusan bahawa seseorang Islam itu tidak boleh murtad melainkan dengan, dan hanya jika diizinkan oleh, sebuah Mahkamah Syariah yang berbidang kuasa. Maka mengamuk sakanlah kaum kaafirun dan yang sewaktu dengannya.

Kegagalan mereka dalam kes Azlina Jailani, diikuti pula dengan kes perebutan jenazah Mohamed Moorthy Abdullah, dan kes perebutan anak S. Shamala menyebabkan mereka bergabung bersatu tenaga beberapa NGO termasuk Bar Council, Majlis Perunding Agama Hindu, Kristian, Budha & Sikh, Suaram, Hakam, Sisters in Islam, AWAM, WAO, WCC, WDC dan beberapa lagi NGO mencadangkan penubuhan Suruhanjaya Antara Agama @ IFC dengan 17 tuntutan yang kesannya akan menjadikan murtad itu halal dan sah, serta Islam sebaris dengan agama lain dalam negara ini.

Strategi kafirun ahzab ini ditentang oleh umat Islam yang bersatu dibawah berpuluh NGO diketuai oleh PPI, Peguam Pembela Islam dan Pertubuhan Pembela Islam. Himpunan Sejuta Umat diadakan di Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan dengan kehadiran puluhan ribu umat Islam. Kempen tandatangan Sejuta Umat dilancarkan dan alhamdulillah lebih sejuta tandatangan berjaya dikutip dan dipersembahkan kepada Majlis Raja-Raja.

Kesatuan umat Islam itu menjadi kegerunan kepada kaum kaafirun ahzab ini, maka mereka juga mengatur strategi untuk memecah-belahkan umat Islam. Sejak tahun 2006, mereka melakukan tusukan jarum halus melaga-lagakan umat Islam. Akhirnya mereka berjaya mempergunakan himpunan haram Hindraf untuk mencetuskan gelombang pemecahan itu, bilamana Anwar Ibrahim mengambil sikap menyokong pertubuhan haram tersebut. Ini membawa kepada beberapa insiden selepas itu dan Anwar berjaya mempengaruhi beberapa orang pimpinan PAS untuk bersama beliau yang akhirnya membawa kepada munculnya kaum Anwarinas didalam PAS yang qiblat mereka adalah kepada Anwar Ibrahim, bukan kepimpinan Haji Hadi.

Dan pilihanraya 2008 menyaksikan buat pertama kalinya umat Islam berpecah. Perpecahan ini memberi ruang kepada kaum kafir melaui parti cauvinis dan rasis biaDAP untuk menjalankan peranan yang akhirnya umat Islam kehilangan cengkaman kuasa politik Melayu-Muslim. Kelesuan, kedayusan dan kebaculan umat makin menjadi-jadi. Ini terbukti bila berlaku beberapa insiden dan isu, yang kemuncaknya ialah tuntutan penggunaan kalimah ALLAH oleh kristian dalam bentuk triniti mendapat sokongan Anwar Ibrahim dan kaum Anwarinas, yang berhempas pulas menyokongnya. Dan kaum kafir khususnya parti cauvinis biaDAP tahu bahawa perpecahan umat Islam sudah parah, kerana ada dikalangan mereka bersedia menjual agama mereka, termasuk kalimah ALLAH demi untuk memenuhi impian rakus politikus kalkatus ke Putrajaya!

Mutakhir bila isu bible versi Bahasa Indonesia muncul, tanpa perlu puak kafir kristian bersusah payah, kaum Awarinas yang beriya-iya menyokong dan mendesak supaya kebenaran dan kebebasan diberi kepada kristian untuk mengimpot masuk bible dan risalah dan penerbitan dalam bahasa indonesia. Sehingga akhirnya kerajaan yang dipimpin oleh umat Islam terpaksa tunduk dan memberi kebenaran tersebut, kerana pihak kafir kristian dan sekutu mereka menyatakan kalau PAS dan PKR benarkan, kenapa UMNO nak halang pulak! Sehingga berita palsu dibawa ke peringkat Pope di Vatican bahawa kaum kristian dizalimi dan dianiaya serta di"persecute" oleh Kerajaan Islam Malaysia! Maka kaum kafir tahu bahawa cengkaman mereka keatas segelintir umat Islam sudah sempurna; hanya tinggal masa untu dilaksanakan agenda syaitan mereka menumbangkan kerajaan pemerintahan umat Islam dalam negara ini.

Kelesuan, kebaculan, dan kebisuan segelintir umat Islam terbukti bila isu murtad Nor Azman Beginda terbongkar baru-baru ini. Nor Azman Beginda, adalah saksi untuk Anwar Ibrahim dalam kes liwat Anwar . Beliau juga adalah calon PKR dalam PRN Negeri Sarawak. Kisah murtadnya Nor Azman terbongkar apabila timbul isu anaknya membawa sosej babi ke sekolah. Kalau murtadnya Aishah pada tahun 1997 menjadi isu besar sehingga ramai yang bertakbeer mahu berjihad, namun terbongkarnya isu murtad Azman dipandang sepi, malah ramai yang dahulunya mujahidin tiba-tiba menjadi syaitan PBB - pekak, bisu & buta.

Tiba-tiba, perancangan ALLAH pun bermula. Tanpa disangka-sangka, sedang umat Islam menjalani 'ibadah puasa tahun ini, tercetus isu Gereja Methodist Damansara Utama menjalankan kegiatan dakyah terhadap umat Islam pada hari ketiga Ramadhan. Kegiatan yang diselimuti dengan program bantuan kemanusiaan dan makan-makan, secara halus mereka memasukkan dakyah mereka. Tindakan JAIS melakukan siasatan terhadap kegiatan itu dihebohkan sebagai satu "serbuan keatas satu majlis muhibbah dan kemasyarakatan didalam sebuah gereja".

Dengan menggunakan perkataan-perkataan yang bombastik dan menggemparkan, isu itu diputar sebagai satu tindakan mencampuri urusan gereja dan melanggar hak asasi manusia dan kebebasan beragama. Tekanan dikenakan terhadap Menteri Besar yang dengan bangangnya telah mengambil sikap apologetik dan menuntut maaf kepada kaum kafir ini walaupun belum mendapat lapuran penuh insiden tersebut. Dikalangan kaum Anwarinas muncul jaguh-jaguh kampung merimbuk meja memaki tindakan JAIS.

Alhamdulillah, ALLAH membuka hati YB Exco Hal Ehwal Islam Selangor, Datuk Hasan Ali untuk bangkit mempertahankan tindakan JAIS dan membela maruah Islam. Tindakan berani Datuk Hasan Ali telah menukar habis spektrum isu ini. Pendedahan berani Datuk Hasan Ali bahawa memang terdapat bukti kegiatan mendakyahkan umat Islam oleh gereja Methodist tersebut mengejutkan umat Islam. Walaupun dimaki-hamun oleh kaum Anwarinas, walaupun Presiden yang besar serbannya tidak menyokongnya, walaupun diserang bertubi-tubi oleh kaum kafir, Datuk Hasan Ali langsung tidak gentar, malah mengeluarkan kenyataan tegas dan jelas: saya rela dipecat demi mempertahankan aqidah umat Islam!!!

Kenyataan itu disambut oleh umat Islam. Sokongan kepada Datuk Hasan Ali dan JAIS bertambah hari demi hari. Akaun facebook yang dibuka untuk membela Datuk Hasan Ali mencapai jumlah mengejutkan, sudah hampir 20,000 orang menyatakan sokongan terhadap Datuk Hasan Ali hanya dalam beberapa hari. Sokongan yang melangkaui batasan politik kepartian. Dan berita mengejutkan apabila Ketua Dewan Ulama' PAS, Ketua Pemuda PAS dan beberapa tokoh ulama' menyatakan sokongan terbuka kepada Datuk Hasan Ali. Insyallah Ramadhan ini akan membawa semangat Badar kepada umat Islam yang semakin lesu dan layu akibat mainan politiking melampau segelintir politikus kalkatus yang rakus ke Putrajaya.

Hari ini terbukti memang benar terdapat kegiatan cuba mendakyahkan umat Islam dalam acara di Gereja Methodist itu. Bukan itu sahaja, terkini terbongkar kisah rupanya gereja Methodist itu adalah gereja haram. Ianya tiada kelulusan daripada pihak Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, yang hanya meluluskan pembinaan sebuah pusat komuniti bukannya gereja. Kita mendesak supaya MBPJ dan Kerajaan Selangor mengambil tindakan segera menyita dan menutup gereja tersebut tanpa sebarang dolak dalik lagi!!! Teman semakin yakin janji ALLAH itu benar, dan ALLAH akan memenangkan umat Islam akhirnya!

Ingatlah, isu dakyah gereja Methodist ini bukan isu politik, bukan isu kepartian, bukan isu UMNO-PAS. Tetapi ini adalah isu umat Islam, dan umat Islam mesti bersatu. Ketepikan semua sentimen politik, buang semua assobiyah kepartian. Kita umat Satu Tuhan, Satu Nabi, Satu Kitab, Satu Qiblat. Marilah kita bersatu dibawah ukhwah Islam berdasarkan Al Quran & Sunnah!!!

sinar Ramadhan membawa barakah

Tiada Tuhan melainkan ALLAH Yang Satu, kami ikhlas beragama kepada ALLAH, walaupun kafir ahzab tidak menyukainya. ALLAH itu Benar, ALLAH akan mebantu kita menghancurkan kafir ahzab yang bersatu, dan meletakkan musuh-musuh Islam dibawah tapak kaki umat Islam. ALLAHUAKBAR WALILLAHHILHAMD!

Sebelum ini Dr Asri dan beberapa pemimpin haprak pakatan berkata demo di UK aman malah tindakan PDRM adalah paling zalim didunia.

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Seorang pemimpin mazhab poligami, yang menjadi tajuk utama akhbar pada tahun 2008 yang ditahan polis dalam satu serbuan, dijatuhkan hukuman penjara seumur hidup selepas dia didapati melakukan serangan seks ke atas dua gadis muda.

Pemimpin itu, Warren Jeffs berusia 55 tahun tidak menunjukkan sebarang reaksi ketika hukuman itu dibacakan oleh pihak juri yang mengambil masa kurang sejam untuk membuat keputusan di sebuah mahkamah kelmarin.

Mazhab yang dibawa Jeffs menjadi tumpuan umum apabila polis Texas menyerbu rumahnya yang berhampiran bandar kecil Eldorado pada 2008 dan membawa keluar lebih 468 budak lelaki dan perempuan ekoran terdapat dakwaan berlaku penderaan seksual dan fizikal yang sistematik.

Namun pihak mahkamah kemudian mengarahkan budak lelaki dan perempuan itu dipulangkan kepada ibu bapa mereka.

Menurut pihak pendakwa raya, Jeffs mempunyai 78 isteri. - Agensi

‘Tiada lagi sentuhan kasih sayang’

MASALAH...kegagalan guru untuk mendidik boleh mengakibatkan pelajar menjadi lebih bermasalah kerana kurang perhatian dan kasih sayang.

GURU dulu tegas dan komited sewaktu menjalankan tugas, namun di sebalik ketegasan itu ada hati yang bersih dan ikhlas mendidik pelajar menjadi anak bangsa berjaya.

Disebabkan sikap bertanggungjawab itu, mereka bukan saja dihormati malah mulia kedudukannya dalam kalangan masyarakat.

SALAH SIAPA...jika pelajar jadi begini, siapakah yang harus dipersalahkan.

PENDEKATAN SEBENAR...guru perlu bijak menggunakan pendekatan betul bagi memastikan proses pembelajaran berjalan lancar dan cemerlang.

Kini, ketegasan, integriti, profesionalisme, hak bersuara serta taraf guru semakin suram dan merudum di mata masyarakat malah menyedihkan kerana golongan itu mudah diperkotak-katikkan pelajar sendiri.

Ini menjadikan hubungan antara guru-pelajar semakin jauh, dingin dan bergolak. Kesannya, semangat guru kian pudar melaksanakan tanggungjawab lebih dedikasi.

Disebabkan tidak mendapat sokongan selain bebanan tugasan semakin bertambah, motivasi sebahagian guru mulai luntur dan culas melaksanakan tanggungjawab. Mereka tidak lagi memegang falsafah ingin bertanggungjawab memberi pendidikan, tetapi lebih kepada mengajar semata-mata.

Mengajar lebih menjurus kepada kaedah 2M iaitu membabitkan proses penyampaian ilmu pengetahuan dari guru kepada pelajar dan lebih menumpukan kepada pembangunan intelektual atau akademik.

Manakala mendidik membentuk sahsiah atau akhlak dan memerlukan tempoh masa panjang untuk membentuk akhlak pelajar yang baik.

Persoalannya apakah beza mendidik dan mengajar?

Pensyarah Kanan Program Pendidikan Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Dr Isya Awang, berkata ada perbezaan antara konsep mendidik dan mengajar dalam ilmu pendidikan.

Beliau berkata, mengajar lebih ketara berbentuk fizikal manakala mendidik sebagai 'sentuhan' emosi dan kasih sayang guru kepada pelajar.

"Boleh dikatakan sebahagian guru hari ini hanya menumpukan pada konsep mengajar berbanding mendidik. Mereka datang ke sekolah hanya untuk mengajar, menghabiskan silibus dan menerima gaji hujung bulan.

"Tiada lagi 'sentuhan' atau perasaan kasih sayang telus seperti ditunjukkan golongan guru dulu. Guru dan pelajar kurang berinteraksi, sentiasa mencipta konflik.

"Bagaimanapun, menuding jari pada guru semata-mata adalah tidak adil kerana kita terpaksa menerima keadaan itu kerana senario hari ini tidak semuanya memihak kepada mereka," katanya.

Katanya, kadangkala guru dibebani kerenah pelajar yang pelbagai menyebabkan ada yang sukar menumpukan perhatian. Akibatnya, akan ada pelajar yang terabai terutama mereka yang bermasalah.

"Tambah memburukkan keadaan, ibu bapa pula datang menyerang dan mempersoalkan kredibiliti guru. Apabila semua pihak menghentam, tidak mustahil ada yang mengambil langkah drastik bersikap sambil lewa dan enggan mengambil tahu," katanya.

Menurutnya, kebanyakan ibu bapa hanya tahu mengambil pendekatan 'lepas tangan' atau bertindak secara melulu tanpa usul periksa. Secara tidak langsung memberi tekanan kepada guru untuk mencorakkan gaya pembelajaran mereka.

"Jalan mudah, mereka hanya mengajar dan tidak mahu mendidik. Ironinya, guru berpendapat, tidak perlu menjalin atau mengambil berat mengenai pelajar kerana ibu bapa sendiri kurang memberi sokongan.

" Mengapa mesti menanggung beban sedangkan ibu bapa hanya relaks. Ia seperti barah hingga akhirnya menghakis sikap profesionalisme guru yang sepatutnya bertanggungjawab penuh terhadap tugas dan tanggungjawabnya," katanya.

Ditanya mengapakah guru zaman dulu mempunyai nilai 'sentuhan' ajaib hingga menerbitkan hubungan rapat dengan pelajar, beliau berkata tugas guru dulu jarang 'diganggu' atau digugat pelbagai tugas sampingan lain.

Menurutnya, guru dulu boleh menumpukan perhatian pada tanggungjawab hakiki kerana semua pihak faham makna pendidikan dan menuntut ilmu.

"Masalahnya hari ini guru atau pihak berkenaan kurang memahami makna itu tapi lebih mementingkan keputusan akademik . Malangnya itu bukan jaminan cemerlang sahsiah diri.

" Secara tidak langsung, menggambarkan bagaimana proses mendidik gagal dilaksanakan sedangkan untuk berjaya, gabungan keduanya perlu seimbang supaya dapat menampung kekurangan yang ada," katanya.

Guru pula sebaliknya ada yang tidak mampu mempunyai komitmen tinggi terhadap tugas kerana segelintirnya menjadi guru semata - mata mahu mempunyai gaji dan pendapatan samping yang lebih berbentuk material.

" Dibandingkan guru dulu, mereka ikhlas dan tidak berkira mengenai bayaran, guru sekarang sebaliknya malah ada yang terus melanjutkan tugas di luar dengan harapan memperoleh pendapatan sampingan, misalnya tuisyen.

" Itu tidak salah namun sejauh manakah guru mampu membina hubungan baik dan mesra dengan pelajar. Adakah mereka mengambil berat dengan bertanya khabar atau masuk kelas, mengajar, beri kerja rumah kemudian keluar?

" Suasana seperti ini tidak sihat kerana perhubungan guru - pelajar hanya termaktub dalam kelas semata - mata. Guru tidak mengenali pelajar, begitu sebaliknya, justeru bagaimanakah sentuhan kasih sayang itu boleh menerbitkan hubungan yang erat," soalnya.

Guru, katanya, perlu berusaha mengembalikan semula martabat sebagai golongan dihormati manakala masyarakat termasuk ibu bapa perlu memberi peluang golongan itu mencorakkan proses pendidikan mengikut acuan tersendiri asalkan tidak menyalahi peraturan.

" Guru jadilah golongan bertanggungjawab, kembalikan semula maruah yang sudah lama tercalar. Proses melahirkan masyarakat dan bangsa berguna tidak boleh dizahirkan melalui satu mekanisme semata-mata.

"Boleh mengajar tapi tekankan juga kepentingan mendidik. Barulah lengkap pakej untuk melahirkan pelajar cemerlang akademik, budi dan peribadi seperti termaktub dalam falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan," katanya.

Tokoh Guru Kedah 2009, Sayed Mahadzir Sayed Omar pula berpendapat teknik mendidik dan mengajar guru berbeza dibandingkan guru zaman dulu.

Menurutnya, guru dulu mengajar berasaskan kasih sayang dan semangat patriotisme juga menerima kepercayaan tinggi daripada ibu bapa yang rela 'menyerahkan' anak untuk dididik.

" Mereka tidak kisah anak 'dipukul' kerana tahu itu tanggungjawab guru menjadikan mereka berjaya. Malangnya hari ini tidak boleh kerana banyak akta atau peraturan perlu dipatuhi.

" Bayangkan, kalau pelajar bermasalah, tapi tangan guru 'terikat', apakah boleh pelajar itu diasuh menjadi manusia yang baik? Justeru tidak hairanlah, ramai guru hari ini lebih senang mengajar daripada mendidik kerana tidak mahu masalah berbangkit," katanya.

BAGAN SERAI: Tindakan seorang ahli perniagaan cuba menyeberangi landasan kereta api menggunakan lintasan haram berakhir tragedi apabila kenderaan pelbagai guna (MPV) dipandu dirempuh sebuah kereta api penumpang, petang semalam.

Kejadian jam 3.40 petang semalam menyebabkan kenderaan mangsa diseret sebelum terhumban hampir 20 meter berhampiran kilometer 59.5 landasan kereta api, Alor Pongsu, di sini.

Difahamkan kereta api penumpang Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) itu yang datang dari arah utara menuju selatan tidak sempat berhenti lalu merempuh MPV dipandu mangsa yang berada di tengah landasan.

Ketua Polis Daerah Kerian, Superintendan Mat Fauzi Nayan yang dihubungi berkata, mangsa yang memandu MPV model Toyota Unser dipercayai datang dari arah pekan Alor Pongsu menuju ke kawasan pedalaman.

Menurutnya, mangsa didapati cuba menaiki tebing landasan berkenaan tanpa menyedari kehadiran kereta api penumpang itu.

"Kenderaan mangsa yang berada di tengah landasan dirempuh tepat kepala gerabak kereta api terbabit sebelum terpelanting dan terbalik sejauh 15 meter.

"Mangsa dikenali sebagai Choo Cheang Phang, 46, mengalami kecederaan parah di tubuh dan kepala. Mangsa berjaya ditarik keluar oleh orang ramai yang menyedari nahas itu," katanya.

Menurutnya, rempuhan kuat itu menyebabkan kenderaan mangsa remuk pada bahagian sisi kanan bersebelahan dengan tempat duduk mangsa.

"Mangsa yang kritikal dihantar ke Hospital Parit Buntar untuk menjalani rawatan kecemasan. Bagaimanapun mangsa dilaporkan menghembus nafas terakhir jam 9.10 malam tadi.

"Dalam kejadian itu, pemandu kereta api itu hanya berhenti seketika memberi bantuan sebelum menyambung semula perjalanan. Pihak polis masih menyiasat punca kejadian, dan tujuan mangsa menggunakan laluan landasan berkenaan" katanya.

PAS letak 100 hari menjelang PRU 13

10 Ogos 2011 (IPOH) - PAS telah mengarahkan semua jentera pilihanrayanya agar bersedia bermula daripada sekarang dengan kiraan 100 hari menjelangnya Pilihan Raya Umum (PRU) ke - 13 tegas Naib Presiden PAS Haji Salahuddin Ayub ketika program bersama PAS Kawasan Ipoh Timur di sini.

Salahuddin dalam ucapannya selepas menunaikan Solat Sunat Tarawikh bersama PAS Ipoh Timur menjelaskan bahawa keputusan Mesyuarat PAS Pusat baru-baru ini menjangkakan bahawa PRU 13 akan berlaku dalam masa yang terdekat.

'Saya ingin maklum bahawa peringkat PAS Pusat telah memutuskan bahawa semua jentera parti sudah dipersiapkan dalam tempoh 100 hari daripada sekarang dan kita menjangkakan PRU 13 sudah hampir dengan kita' jelas Salahuddin di dalam ucapannya di Markaz Unit Peti Undi (UPU) Taman Pengkalan Barat, Ipoh.

Beliau juga meminta semua peringkat parti mesti bekerja keras bagi memenangkan Pakatan Rakyat (PR) dalam PRU 13 ini untuk sama-sama sampai ke Putrajaya jelas Salahuddin. Beliau yakin semua Ahli PAS akan membantu jentera PR samaada PKR atau DAP untuk sama-sama bekerja keras kali ini.

Gejala murtad : UMNO tidak serius

Dewan Pemuda PAS Pusat (Malaysia) menegaskan pendirian bahawa peruntukan yang telah termaktud di dalam Perlembagaan Negara yang menegaskan Islam sebagai Agama rasmi Persekutuan dan ruang lingkup yang memastikan agama Islam terpelihara di dalam negara kita adalah agenda berterusan tanpa korompomi daripada mana-mana pihak yang secara sengaja mencabar kedaulatan Islam di dalam negara kita. Jesteru kami ulangi bahawa usaha mengganggu-gugat institusi Islam akan berdepan dengan suasana yang sengaja mengeruhkan perpaduan yang selama ini kita capai yang tidak sepatutnya berlaku sama sekali.

Akan tetapi, bagi kami kepada sebuah parti yang kini memerintah negara atas nama Umno sepatutnya lebih prihatin terhadap suasana yang dibentuk secara tidak langsung atas pendekatan-pendekatan kerajaan ketika ini. Sebagai teguran serius kepada Umno, perkara paling kecil berkaitan menutup aurat pun langsung tidak diambil kira oleh Umno sehingga sekarang. Suasana inilah yang dilihat oleh pihak luar sebenarnya keringanan Umno meninggikan martabad Islam di mata bukan Islam. Walaupun menutup aurat perkara yang kecil tidak mampu dipertegaskan oleh Umno, bagaimana dengan agenda besar Islam yang lain akan dipastikan ianya berjaya kepada seluruh umat Islam tercapai.

Kami amat kesal usaha Umno meninggikan syiar Islam di dalam negara kita. Bagi kami apa yang berlaku, Umno perlu bertanggungjawab sepenuhnya kerana kekuasaan institusi Islam yang memakin hari, semakin dicabar oleh pihak luar yang langsung tidak diendahkan oleh Umno sebagai parti tulang belakang Barisan Nasional (BN) yang kini masih memerintah Malaysia. Banyak perkara yang berkaitan isu Islam yang dibiarkan oleh Umno tanpa membela atau menegaskan sepertimana yang jelas di dalam Perlembagaan Negara. Jesteru, kami merasakan kemelut yang berlaku kini semuanya akan diletakkan 'dibawah karpet' sahaja tanpa berlaku apa-apa penyelesaian selepas ini.

Pendedahan rasmi oleh Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri sebelum ini bahawa jumlah permohonan keluar Agama di Mahkamah Syariah sebanyak 863 kes sudah cukup membuktikan ketidak seriusan kerajaan menangani isu murtad dan kegagalan Umno untuk menjaga kedaulatan dan ketuanan agama Islam itu sendiri. Kami akan mempertahankan Perlembagaan Negara terutamanya Artikel 114 dan juga berharap dapat mempertahankan isu murtad ini, Jabatan Agama Islam Negeri-Negeri dan Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) amnya perlulah juga mengikut peraturan dan prosedur dalam penguatkuasaanya berdasarkan Undang-Undang Negara.

Pemimpin BN tidak prihatin kepada rakyat .

Najib Razak terus berbohong kepada rakyat dengan memperkenalkan NKRA ketujuh iaitu kononnya berusaha keras bagi menangani kos sara hidup rakyat yang kian meningkat.

Ini suatu yang amat bercanggah dengan keperluan rakyat yang sebenarnya, rakyat mahukan supaya sistem yang ada di Negara kini diperbaiki secara menyeluruh, selain menuntut pengagihan ekonomi secara adil dan tidak membazir, rakyat juga menuntut supaya pengurusan pilihanraya direformasikan secepat mungkin.

Beliau terus perbodoh rakyat dengan mengatakan kerajaan BN lah yang membela rakyat sejak merdeka, saya ingin menegaskan bahawa janji tersebut layak diketegorikan sebagai hikayat dongeng.

Sebenarnya Umno-BN telah gagal menguruskan khazanah Negara melalui pembaziran projek-projek mega yang menelan belanja berbilion ringgit .

Isteri PM telah memecah satu tradisi yang diamalkan oleh isteri PM sebelumnya dengan memamirkan kehidupan mewah yang melampau dalam keadaan rakyat sedang mengikat perut dan terus dihimpit kemiskinan.

Maka wajarkah Najib bercakap tentang kos hidup rakyat sedangkan batang tubuhnya tidak mengambarkan kehidupan rakyat yang sebenarnya.

Tatkala berlaku kepincangan terhadap ekonomi Negara, Umno-BN sering persalahkan ekonomi global pula walhal Negara yang kukuh ekonominya tidak bergantung sangat kepada gaya turun naik ekonomi di peringkat antarabangsa . Apalagi Malaysia adalah sebuah negara pengeluar minyak, di sinilah hujah kuat bahawa Najib telah gagal mentadbir negara, wajarkah beliau dan BN terus dipertahankan?

Rakyat lagi ditipu bulat-bulat apabila Najib Razak berkata bahawa Malaysia merupakan pemberi subsisi rakyat yang tertinggi, perkara ini tidak benar kerana subsidi rakyat yang dimaksudkan cuma berjumlah sekitar 3 bilion, itu pun tidak semua wang tersebut sampai kepada rakyat.

Cuba bayangkan jika subsidi kepada rakyat setahun berjumlah RM3 bilion itupun dalam perancangan ditarik, walhal rakyat Malaysia berada dalam lingkungan berjumlah 27 juta orang, ini bermakna subsidi yang sampai kepada setiap rakyat cuma lebih kurang RM111 untuk setahun, jelas sekali pemimpin BN tidak prihatin kepada rakyat?

Pakatan Rakyat telah menunjukkan komitmen yang jitu dalam membela hak rakyat, di Pulau Pinang misalnya, setelah kerajaan persekutuan mengumumkan bonus separuh gaji dan minima RM500 bakal diberi menjelang musim perayaan. Ketua Menteri mengumumkan lebih dari itu.

Kerajaan Pulau Pinang yang ditadbir PR memandang jumlah ini tidak memadai jika mahu bela kos rakyat, maka dengan serta merta Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang mengumumkan bonus minima untuk kakitangan kerajaan negeri berjumlah minima RM600 iaitu lebih seratus dari pemberian kerajaan persekutuan .

Di sini jelas kepada kita bahawa BN bukanlah kerajaan yang membela rakyat, kerana itu rakyat mestilah memberi jawapan yang paling tepat dengan sungkurkan BN pada PRU 13 nanti .

Dua saksi potensi bagi perbicaraan liwat yang membabitkan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ditemubual oleh peguam ketua pembangkang itu hari ini.

Mereka adalah pengawal peribadinya Mokhtar Mustafa dan pemandunya Abdullah Sani Said.

Mereka ditemubual selama hampir sejam oleh peguam Karpal Singh dan Sankara Nair.

Anwar turut hadir pada sesi temubual itu.

Menurut Karpal Singh, dua lagi saksi akan ditemubual esok. Mereka adalah pemilik kondominium di mana kejadian meliwat itu didakwa berlaku, iaitu Hasanuddin Abd Hamid dan Noor Sham Abdul Hamid.

"Tiada petunjuk bilakita boleh dapat temubual Perdana Menteri Najib Abdul Razak dan isterinya Rosmah Mansor.

"Mahkamah telah memberikan pihak pendakwaan tempoh seminggu untuk membekalkan saksi untuk ditemubual oleh pihak pembelaan sebelum perbicaraan membela Anwar bermula. Jadi kita tunggu dan lihat," katanya.

Khutbah Jumaat : Bersatulah mempertahankan aqidah

BERSATULAH MEMPERTAHANKAN AQIDAH

(12 Ramadhan 1432 / 12 Ogos 2011)

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الْقَائِلِ،

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ هُدًۭى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْفُرْقَانِ

Bulan Ramadhan yang padanya diturunkan Al-Quran, menjadi petunjuk bagi sekalian manusia, dan menjadi keterangan-keterangan yang menjelaskan petunjuk dan menjadi pembeda antara kebenaran dan kebatilanl" - Surah al Baqarah : 185.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّآإِلهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ, وَرَسُوْلُهُ

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلىَ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ وَمَنْ تَبِعَهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ

Wahai hamba-hamba Allah !

Bertaqwalah sekalian kamu kepada Allah dengan sebenar-benar taqwa. Dan Janganlah kamu mati melainkan dalam keadaan Islam. Saya menyeru diri saya sendiri dan juga sidang Jumaat sekalian agar kita sama-sama meningkatkan ketaqwaan kita kepada Allah dengan melakukan segala suruhanNya dan menjauhi segala yang ditegahNya.

Hadirin yang dirahmati Allah,

Dr. Zakir Naik, seorang pakar perbandingan agama dalam salah satu dialog bersama penganut agama lain telah diajukan soalan; mengapa di Mekah dan Madinah tidak dibenarkan didirikan rumah ibadat agama lain sedangkan di negara bukan Islam lain termasuk England dan Amerika Syarikat membenarkan pembinaan masjid dan surau. Beliau menjawab adakah pihak sekolah akan membenarkan guru matematik yang mengajar muridnya 2 kali 2 bersamaan dengan 6 sedangkan pihak sekolah berkeyakinan bahawa 2 kali 2 bersamaan dengan 4. Maka bodohlah pihak sekolah yang masih membenarkan guru yang mengajar ajaran salah dari terus mengajar murid-murid mereka.

Oleh kerana orang Islam meyakini bahawa hanya Islam sahaja yang diterima Allah dan hanya Islam sahaja satu-satunya agama yang benar, maka umat Islam wajiblah menjaga kebenaran tersebut daripada dicemarkan jika mereka mempunyai kuasa untuk berbuat demikian. Allah berfirman dalam Surah Ali Imran ayat 19 :

إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمُ ۗ …..

Sesungguhnya agama yang diterima olleh Allah hanyalah Islam.

Sidang Jumaat sekelian,

Sesebuah negara Islam wajib mempertahankan Islam dan menjaga aqidah umat Islam dari dirosakkan oleh penganut agama lain. Mempertahankan aqidah umat Islam tidak boleh disamakan dengan menyekat kebebasan penganut agama lain dari melaksanakan amalan agama mereka. Apakah maknanya kita dipimpin oleh orang Islam jika Islam disamatarafkan dengan agama lain di negara ini. Apakah apabila kita boleh berdakwah mengenai Islam kepada penganut agama lain, maka mereka juga perlu diberi kebebasan bagi memesongkan aqidah dan memurtadkan umat Islam. Apakah apabila mereka boleh membaca terjemahan al-Quran dan buku-buku berkaitan Islam maka mereka juga bebas menyebarkan risalah agama mereka di kalangan penganut Islam. Jika itu yang kita maksudkan, tak perlulah kita berjuang mempertahankan kepimpinan kita mesti di kalangan orang-orang Islam.

Sidang Jumaat sekelian,

Serbuan dan Pemeriksaan Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS) terhadap Gereja Methodist, Damansara Utama baru-baru ini telah menjadi bukti bahawa umat Islam tidak mahu bersatu walaupun melibatkan usaha mempertahankan aqidah umat Islam di negara kita sendiri. Berbagai pihak lebih ghairah menghentam JAIS seolah-olah tindakan tersebut adalah satu kesalahan yang amat besar dan bercanggah dengan undang-undang. Apakah mereka yang banyak bercakap ini benar-benar memahami undang-undang yang dikuatkuasakan. Apakah mereka menganggap bahawa pihak-pihak berkuasa agama akan melakukan tindakan tersebut sewenang-wenangnya tanpa melihat kepada keharusannya dari segi Syarak. Salahkah pihak berkuasa agama melaksanakan usaha pencegahan awal ( سَدُّ الذَّرَائِع ) bagi mengelakkan umat Islam dimurtadkan di negara yang Islam adalah agama persekutuannya.

Muslimin yang dirahmati Allah,

Umat Islam perlu lebih bijak bercakap sebelum mengetahui fakta sebenar. Kita mesti mengkaji atas alasan apa mereka yang terlibat tidak mendapat bantuan daripada pihak Baitulmal. Yakinkah kita bahawa mereka benar-benar layak untuk menjadi salah satu dari asnaf-asnaf zakat mengikut hukum Syarak. Apabila timbulnya isu kemiskinan dalam masyarakat, apakah kita hanya melihat kepada peruntukan zakat semata-mata sedangkan begitu banyak agensi dan yayasan lain yang ditubuhkan untuk membasmi kemiskinan dan mempunyai peruntukan yang lebih banyak berbanding zakat. Di mana pula peranan berbagai pihak wakil rakyat, pemimpin tempatan dan para hartawan yang beragama Islam sehingga menyebabkan mereka terpaksa mengharapkan belas ihsan daripada rumah ibadat orang-orang bukan Islam. Ini sebenarnya hanyalah membuktikan kepincangan sistem kemasyarakatan umat Islam yang sudah tidak lagi menghayati Islam yang sebenarnya. Kebanyakan dari kita hanya pandai bercakap berbanding berusaha, lebih banyak menuding jari berbanding menyumbang bakti dan tidak benar-benar prihatin terhadap sesama sendiri.

Muslimin yang dirahmati Allah,

Kita boleh menyalahkan berbagai pihak yang membiarkan kita terdedah kepada hasutan pihak luar. Namun hakikatnya bagi yang mempunyai maruah dan jati diri, kita sepatutnya tidak akan menggadaikan aqidah mereka dengan harga yang murah. Wajarkah masih ada lagi rakyat kita yang hidup merempat sedangkan pendatang asing yang datang sehelai sepinggang mampu hidup mewah di negara tercinta ini. Jika para sahabat sangup mati dan menanggung berbagai penyiksaan bagi mempertahankan aqidah, apakah wajar kita menggadaikan aqidah kita dengan hanya mengharapkan bantuan kewangan yang tidak seberapa daripada musuh-musuh Allah.

وَلاَ تَشْتَرُوا بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً ۚ إِنَّمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿ الأنفال : ٩٥﴾ مَا عِندَكُمْ يَنفَدُ ۖ وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ بَاقٍ ۗ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿الأنفال : ٩٦﴾

Dan janganlah kamu jual belikan agama Allah dengan keuntungan dunia yang sedikit, sesungguhnya apa yang ada di sisi Allah adalah lebih baik bagi kamu, jika kamu mengetahuinya. Apa yang ada pada kamu akan hilang lenyap dan apa yang ada di sisi Allah tetap kekal dan sesungguhnya Kami membalas orang-orang sabar dengan memberikan ganjaran yang lebih baik dari apa yang mereka telah kerjakan.

Sidang Jumaat Yang dirahmati Allah,

Sewajarnya kita bersatu padu dalam memenangkan Islam dalam Negara tercinta ini. Usaha mempertahankan aqidah umat terlalu besar tuntutannya berbanding menjaga hati orang kafir walaupun ianya merugikan sokongan mereka terhadap kita. Semua umat Islam mesti mengenepikan kepentingan masing-masing dan wajib saling membantu pihak berkuasa agama dalam mengangkat martabat umat Islam dan mempertahankan aqidah ummat. Kelemahan dan kecacatan dalam sesetengah tindakan dalam usaha jihad ini hendaklah sama-sama diperbaiki. Kalau tidak ada suatu sumbanganpun yang boleh kita salurkan maka cukuplah sekadar mendokong dan menyokong dari belakang tidak hanya pandai mencerca dan mengeji.

بَارَكَ اللهُ لِيْ وَلَكُمْ فِي القُرْآنِ العَظِيْمِ وَنَفَعَنِي وَإِيَّاكُمْ بِمَا فِيْهِ مِنَ الآيَاتِ وَالذِّكْرِ الحَكِيْمِ وَتَقَبَّلَ مِنِّي وَمِنْكُمْ تِلاوَتَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ وَاسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ العَظِيْمَ لِيْ وَلَكُمْ وَلِسَائِرِ الُمْسِلِمْينَ وَالمُسْلِمَاتِ وَالمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالمُؤْمِنَاتِ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوْهُ فَيَا فَوْزَ المُسْتَغْفِرِيْنَ وَيَا نَجَاةَ التَّائِبِيْنَ

Cukup-cukuplah buat dosa, banyakkan pahala

Berapa banyak lagi umat Islam hendak buat dosa, meskipun berada dalam bulan puasa yang ditawarkan dengan banyak pahala. Apakah mereka tidak berpuasa atau tidak sedar apa yang mereka lakukan sekarang itu satu dosa atau setidak-tidaknya boleh mengurangkan pahala puasa. Atau adakah mereka sengaja mahu menghina Islam?

Sepatutnya bermula bulan puasa kita kunci mulut yang suka buat dosa, kunci kaki yang suka buat dosa dan kunci tangan yang suka buat dosa. Kalau selama ini bertimbun dosa, hendaknya bulan ini bertimbun pahala dan dosa yang lama boleh terampun dengan taubat setiap hari dalam bulan Ramadan. Yalah, Rasulullah sendiri menegaskan; Ramadan awalnya Rahmat, pertengahannya Maghfirah dan akhirnya itqunminannar.

Apakah mereka tidak mahu Rahmat Allah, apakah mereka tidak mahu Pengampunan Allah, dan adakah mereka tidak mahu pembebasan daripada api neraka Allah. Kalau mahu mengapa masih mahu buat dosa? Tidak takutkah dosa itu berganda seperti bergandanya pahala. Inilah yang sangat menghairankan saya.

Minggu pertama puasa lagi ada orang Islam yang secara sengaja menyakitkan hati orang bukan Islam. Mereka timbulkan isu orang bukan Islam hendak murtadkan orang Islam. Apakah orang Islam yang masuk gereja sudah jadi murtad? Pada masa yang sama kita sudah menyakitkan hati orang Islam dan organisasi Islam. Mereka tuduh orang Islam tidak mahu bertindak menyelesaikan masalah dengan bijak. Apakah masalah besar boleh diselesaikan dalam sehari dua?

Mengapa orang Islam sanggup jadi ejen musuh Islam bagi merosakkan perpaduan ummah? Apakah mereka tidak sedar bahawa mereka sedang diperalatkan oleh pihak lain untuk menghancurkan Islam? Ya, mungkin dia tidak kena musuh Islam. Kalau begitu siapa musuh Islam itu? Untuk pengetahuan semua, ada dua musuh Islam yang sangat hampir dengan kita iaitu Nafsu yang sangat mengajak ke arah kerosakan dan kedua Syaitan yang niatnya untuk menyesatkan umat Islam.

Kini syaitan dirantai dan kurang berperanan untuk menggoda manusia, maka tinggallah nafsu sebagai penggoda tunggal. Kenapa kita tewas dengan nafsu? Janganlah kerana bencikan seseorang kita tidak nampak kebaikannya lagi. Janganlah tutup kebaikan orang hanya kerana hendak menaikkan kebaikan kita, nanti kesannya kita tidak beroleh apa-apa.

Bertaubatlah wahai umat Islam. Insafilah diri kerana dosa yang bertimbun itu kalau dipohon ampun dengan cara ikhlas akan diampun sepenuhnya. Lakukan ibadah dengan sempurna tanpa dosa lagi. Kemudian bayarlah zakat fitrah kepada AMIL yang dilantik kerajaan. Biarlah nanti orang yang berhak mendapat zakat boleh menyambut raya sama seperti orang lain.

Zakat penting dibayar oleh umat Islam kerana zakat harta adalah untuk membersihkan harta kita yang bercampur dengan hak orang lain di dalamnya. Kalau zakat tidak dikeluarkan bermakna kita akan terus makan hak orang lain.

Manakala zakat fitrah adalah untuk membersihkan diri kita daripada dosa sekali gus menyempurnakan ibadah puasa yang mungkin ada kekurangan. Kalau tidak bayar, maka selain berdosa, puasa kita tidak sempurna. Jadi, bayarlah zakat fitrah kepada amil.

Tetapi di sini juga ada timbul persoalan, mereka tidak mahu membayar zakat kerana fobia dengan penyelewengan pihak pengurus zakat. Dengan ini mereka secara tidak langsung menuduh badan tersebut tidak amanah. Bayangkan dengan sekejab sahaja mereka beroleh dua dosa, dosa tak bayar zakat dan dosa membuat fitnah.

Sebenarnya soal siapa pengendali zakat itu tidak timbul kerana zakat yang kita bayar itu sudah sah dan Allah sudah terima. Kalau pengendali itu tidak amanah lalu menyelewengkan harta tersebut, maka dosanya kepada Allah dan pastinya mereka akan dihukum. Kita tidak perlu risau urusan Allah, tetapi risaulah dengan urusan kita yang belum selesai ada ada dengan Allah dan manusia.

Obama dakwa warisi masalah hutang AS

Kenyataan tersebut dilihat bakal menjadi tema kempen Obama untuk pilihan raya Presiden 2012 dalam usaha beliau menerajui AS untuk penggal kedua.

Sebelum Obama menerajui AS, George W. Bush menjadi Presiden AS selama dua penggal.

Bercakap pada satu majlis mengumpul dana Parti Demokrat yang memerlukan setiap keluarga dikenakan bayaran AS$15,000 (RM45,389) untuk bergambar bersamanya di sini, Obama mempertahankan dasar ekonominya dan memaklumkan bahawa masalah ekonomi di Eropah kini menjejaskan AS.

"Kita memang mempunyai masalah serius berkaitan hutang dan defisit yang sebahagian besarnya saya warisi," kata Obama.

Menurutnya, krisis kewangan yang kini melanda Eropah menyebabkan masalah itu menjadi lebih teruk.

Wakil rakyat Parti Demokrat dan Parti Republikan bersetuju untuk meningkatkan kadar siling hutang dan memotong perbelanjaan pentadbiran pada minggu lalu untuk membolehkan AS membayar hutangnya.

Belum Ada Petunjuk Bila Boleh Temubual Najib, Rosmah-Karpal

KUALA LUMPUR 11 OGOS : Tiga hari telah berlalu, namun belum ada petunjuk bila pasukan peguam bela, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dapat menembual Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan isterinya, kata peguam Karpal Singh.

Mahkamah sebelum ini membenarkan permohonan Anwar menemubual 15 saksi sebelum beliau memberikan keterangan membela diri dalam kes fitnah liwat ke atasnya pada 15 Ogos ini.

Hari ini, dua lagi saksi dalam kes fitnah liwat Anwar ditemubual oleh peguam Karpal dan Sankara Nair.

Mereka ialah pengawal peribadinya Mokhtar Mustafa dan pemandunya Abdullah Sani Said.

Temubual itu berlangsung selama sejam lamanya,

Dalam pada itu Karpal memberitahu, dua lagi saksi akan dipanggil esok.

Mereka adalah pemilik kondominium, lokasi kejadian di mana Anwar didakwa meliwat bekas pembantu peribadinya, Hasanuddin Abd Hamid dan Noor Sham Abdul Hamid.

A Malaysian student who was filmed being mugged after rioters attacked him in London is recovering in hospital.

The attack in Barking on Mohd Asyraf Haziq, 20, on Monday night, made headlines after it was put on YouTube.

Dzuhair Hanafiah, chairman of the London UMNO Club, an organisation which takes care of Malaysian people in the capital, said Mr Haziq was "in good spirits".

He said he was due to have surgery on his jaw at the Royal London Hospital.

Mr Hanafiah, who visited the accountancy student in hospital on Tuesday night, said Mr Haziq had been on his bicycle on his way to a friend's house when he was attacked by a group of youths.

"They wanted his bicycle - one of them took it away. Asyraf said he was no more than 12 years old. Another person took his mobile phone. Then someone punched or knocked him with an object, he can't remember what, but when he regained consciousness he was bleeding," he told the BBC.

Mr Hanafiah said the friend who was with Mr Haziq, who was also on a bicycle, managed to escape.

The YouTube clip - which has been viewed more than a million times - shows a group of young men appearing to try to assist Mr Haziq, helping him to his feet, only for them to rummage through the contents of his rucksack and remove items, leaving him to stagger off in a daze.

"According to Asyraf, a different group then came and stole his Sony PSP, a game console, but they didn't manage to find his wallet. He thinks they may have been part of the same gang, but there were about 20 people," said Mr Hanafiah.

He said Mr Haziq was "really shaken at that point" but was rescued by a local woman who took him back to her house, and then managed to contact a friend of his through Facebook, who came and picked him up.

Mr Hanafiah said as the swelling got worse, the friend realised Mr Haziq - who had won a scholarship to study in the UK and had arrived in London only last month - needed more treatment and he went to hospital.

Speaking about the attack, Mr Hanafiah said Mr Haziq was "shocked that he had been beaten up, and that he couldn't defend himself", but he believed he was all right.

"He wants justice to be upheld, he knows a police report will be lodged and he hopes the police will take action. None of his property has been found.

'Rescue missions'

"But he looked pretty cheerful. He's due to have surgery today for a broken jaw, he's got some broken teeth, but he seems in good spirits," he said.

Mr Hanafiah said Mr Haziq told him the attack would not deter him from studying accountancy at Kaplan Financial in London Bridge, and he wanted to continue to live in Barking.

But he said some other Malaysian students in London had been in contact over the past few days with concerns, and there had been a few "rescue missions".

"At 4am we had a call from a lady in Peckham who didn't feel safe, so we went and picked her up, and she is now staying in a student hostel in Bayswater.

"We've also moved five of Asyraf's friends from Barking to the hostel," he said.

Asked whether Mr Haziq had seen the clip on YouTube, Mr Hanafiah said he had.

"He knows about it, he was laughing when he saw it, but he doesn't know the extent of the YouTube effect on him yet," he said.

Mr Hanafiah said there were about 12,500 Malaysian students in the UK; about 4,000 of them are government-sponsored students.

A spokesman for the Malaysian high commission said it had offered consular assistance to Mr Haziq and that the deputy high commissioner, Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, had visited him in hospital.-BBC

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has described the share swap involving Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and AirAsia as a very good idea.

He also expressed hope that the cooperation would benefit both sides.

"AirAsia can learn about the experience of MAS and MAS can learn how to reduce costs as done by AirAsia," he said when asked to comment on the collaborative framework entered into by the airlines earlier Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the breaking of fast hosted by carmaker Proton here, Dr Mahathir was also asked about the impact of US economy on Malaysia.

"We have shifted from the US to China. Our trade with China has increased multiple folds.

"We have made preparations. When a slowdown hits the US economy, we have another big trade partner," he replied.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has questioned the latest effort to rescue the loss-making state airline, charging today that the Malaysia Airlines (MAS)-AirAsia share swap meant that Putrajaya's previous turnaround plans had failed.

He also said the deal would create a monopoly that will burden air passengers.

"Is the government specifically admitting that the so-called successful turnaround of MAS was a mere charade? The Prime Minister must be held accountable for misleading the rakyat on this.

"More importantly, the deal raises the question as to what is the fate of the GLC Transformation Programmes that had been launched by Prime Minister Najib Razak to much fanfare and wastage of millions of the rakyat's money," he said in a statement, claiming that the share swap would not benefit MAS employees.

The national airline recently recorded a first-quarter net loss of RM242.3 million against a profit of RM310.6 million in the same period a year ago.

MAS main shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd has defended previous efforts at reforming the national flag carrier with managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar saying that the share swap was necessary to keep MAS afloat.

Anwar also raised concerns of AirAsia's possible "monopoly" of the domestic airline industry with the recently-inked MAS-AirAsia share swap yesterday.

"The MAS-Air Asia share swap announced yesterday raises serious concerns over the dominance of Air Asia over MAS and effectively reducing competition between the two.

"This may lead to a virtual monopoly of the domestic airline industry in the long run and give rise to risks and concerns associated with monopolies, more so because of the involvement of cronies and political power brokers," the Opposition leader said.

MAS main shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd finalised a share swap with Tune Air Sdn Bhd yesterday which saw the state investment arm pare down its stake in the ailing state carrier by almost a third.

Under the "Comprehensive Collaboration Framework", Tune Air, AirAsia's main shareholder, will swap a 10 per cent stake in the no-frills airline for 20.5 per cent share in MAS.

Before the share swap, Tune Air was the biggest shareholder in AirAsia with 26.28 per cent stake while Khazanah held a total of 69.33 per cent share of MAS.

The MAS board will also see some new faces, namely Land & General Bhd founder Tan Sri Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah, former IJM chief executive Datuk Krishnan Tan, Astro chief executive Datuk Rohana Rozhan and David Lau from Shell Malaysia, who will act as independent non-executive directors.

AirAsia founder and chief executive Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun have also been appointed as non-independent non-executive directors of MAS.

MAS managing director Tengku Azmil Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz, who stepped down will join Khazanah as an executive director effective September 12, 2011. An executive committee led by Tan Sri Mohd Nor Yusof will manage the state carrier until a new chief executive is appointed while day-to-day operations will be handled by Khazanah executive director and MAS board member, Mohd Rashdan Mohd Yusof.

Anwar charged that Fernandes's participation in the MAS board raised the likelihood of a conflict of interest in spite of Fernandes's "non-executive" position.

"This is clearly a violation of corporate governance rules and should not be condoned.

"This deal also raises fundamental issues of transparency because of the secrecy in which it was shrouded. In this regard, the Securities Commission must investigate the possibility of irregularities including insider trading of the shares of both entities," added Anwar.

The collaboration agreement comes into immediate effect for a period of five years with the option of an extension for a further five years.

We will let the boss of Khazanah say anything he wants at the moment and have his five minutes of fame. At least we are spared his newfound religiosity. Everyone would be forgiven for thinking this is the last word on the issue because the boss of Khazanah says whatever you may think of the deal between MAS-AirAsia, it is defensible. Among other things, he says, this is not a bailout of MAS.

We will take him on these issues.

The first question we want to ask: why was this deal worked out in the first place? Why AirAsia (AA)? It's currently operating at how many times its PE? 40 times? Looking at its numbers and the fundamentals, the high PE could mean its stocks are overpriced. That may mean some boys are cooking the numbers to set up the market and make a killing. Maybe.

If the reason as Dr Mahathir says is that MAS can learn from AA on ways to cut costs, you mean those damn exercises carried out by Idris "al Dunlap" Jala weren't enough? Why don't we learn from Singapore Airlines or Qatar Airlines? Oh … we want to learn from our homegrown talent will be the likely answer.

I know this is a BAD deal because Dr Mahathir said so. Dr Mahathir always says something when he actually means the complete opposite.

Yeah baby, what can we learn from AA?

How about the homegrown talent's track record then? Well, let's see. As of the first quarter of 2011, AirAsia debts amounted to RM7.7 billion with cash balances amounting to RM1.7 billion. This part doesn't require teaching for MAS. Its executives are renowned masters.

Let's see further. Hmm, in August 2010, AA announced a deferment of their proposed aircraft purchases but sometime in June 2011 they reversed their decision and proceeded to place an order for an additional 200 new aircraft at the Paris Air Show. No big deal, we can order as many as we want. Possibly the commission earned from the purchases dwarfs the one earned from the Scorpene submarines which are not submersible.

As of 31 March 2011, as we can see from its first quarter report, AA's capital commitments stood at RM19 billion. With the above announcement, an additional RM54 billion will be added as Capital Commitments. The proposed Capital Commitments of roughly RM74 billion will be spread over a 15-year period ending 2026.

In other words, AA has to increase its earnings to an average of RM5 billion per annum to meet its future dues. From 2006 to 2010, AA's revenue grew tenfold from RM110 million to roughly RM1.1 billion, an average growth of RM200 million per annum. How will it reach RM5 billion? We will see in the coming months when they rationalise all the routes and whatnot.

Its cash reserves rose six-fold from approximately RM300 million to RM1.7 billion but its debts skyrocketed from RM1.05 billion in 2006 to RM7.7 billion in 2010, an increase of 700 per cent.

Surely this looks like a debt burden that is spiralling out of control.

But spend, baby spend.

This deal is signed, sealed and delivered at an onerous and ominous time. The world economy, including that of Asia, will be into another maelstrom and air travel will invariably be hit. So what can be done?

One, AA can cancel orders but contract penalties will be onerous. AirAsia wouldn't want to pay penalties would it? The hutang with MAB too, it dragged on for what seemed like forever. That option is no-go and why would anyone want to forfeit commissions, my man? Also, Tony is probably thinking along what Keynes said — when you are a big borrower, the banks are scared of you. So as a big borrower Tony feels that size does matter after all — it will shield him from foreclosure as banks will be leery of bearing heavy losses! Give it to me, bebeh!

But also, a sizeable chunk of those loans are being held by Malaysian banks and in the worst-case scenario, the government and the taxpayer will have to pick up the tab to avert a financial meltdown cascading down the AA slope. So maybe what a blogger said about enriching AA on taxpayers' money is true after all.

Let me speak to some financial whiz kids to see the deal from a different perspective. No, I am not going to dignify one commentator with an answer stating that I am a racist for writing this article. If it were that Meranun chap inking this deal, I would wallop him all the same. Who cares what race Tony belongs to? You mean I can't criticise dear Tony because he is of a different race and if I do, it amounts to racism? FU!

Take a look at MAS, the whipping boy presently but which is instrumental to further the game being played by bossman Azman Mokhtar and gang. MAS has a paid up of RM 3.384 billion and has a fixed asset value of RM8.4 billion. Its net asset is at RM6.962 billion, where cash constitutes RM2.086 billion.

Compare that to the position of AirAsia, which we pointed out above; it has borrowings up to RM7.7 billion and its cash position is RM1.7 billion. In an earlier article, we pointed out that AirAsia has a record of being a bad debtor; it once owed Malaysia Airports over RM65 million and whenever action was taken against them, they ran to their chief counsel, then PM Pak Lah. Now of course it has Tun Mahathir on its side and the abrasive and aggressive Rafidah Aziz who can be counted to also be its enforcer.

Malaysia Airlines's wealth is actually its network and position in the Tier-5 airline market. Malaysia Airlines's annual operating turnover is RM12.98 billion versus AirAsia's RM 3.948 billion. MAS's operating revenue from airline operation is at RM11.649 billion against Air Asia's RM2.839 billion.

This whatever you call it — merger, cooperation, or whatisitsname — is a mystery-shrouded takeover with the elements of manipulation and failure of disclosures. What is happening to the position of minority shareholders?

Khazanah is giving away 20.5 per cent of its holdings in a company with a bigger network, acclaimed higher standard of service, much bigger operating revenue, stronger assets, fewer debts, more cash and a better paymaster track record to another company with a lesser track record, but one that excels in hyped-up marketing and showing it can make a lot of net money in a shorter period of time.

Also, I find it strange to see one merchant bank acting as common adviser to this deal. Then I remembered the present capo dei capi of Khazanah is cheese compared to chalk of another earlier Khazanah boss

It would do the UMNO political party greater good if its party members did not speak under the hats of their appointed roles vested by the civil and voting citizenry. It would do the appointed individuals greater good too if they spoke for all Malaysians when using the power of their chair to deliver messages to the electorate.The call for Bersih 3.0 is building momentum and will continue to do so for as long as the Election Commission stays stubborn and refuses to admit there is anything wrong with the existing voting system.

Unlike, Bersih or Bersih 2.0, Bersih 3.0 does not need publicity. As a movement, Bersih has taken on a life of its own and it is now very much a citizen awareness movement.

Malaysians have come to learn the meaning of the words, indelible ink, election fraud, biometric fingerprinting and phantom voters, thanks to Bersih chief Ambiga Sreenevasan and her team. We now know about 'instant-citizen' voters, phantom voters and ghostly apparitions who appear right on cue at every general election.

Yet in the face of all this, the Election Commission and the prime minister remain absolutely sure that elections in Malaysia are free and fair.

Bersih 3.0

Can Bersih 3.0 put an end to election fraud? Put it this way, it is the only form of pressure that Malaysians can apply on the BN government and the EC. So, this is one option that Malaysians must embrace and prepare themselves for. Or forever hold their peace when the country goes bankrupt or is turned into a police state.

Bersih 3.0 should be more than another massive march on the streets of Kuala Lumpur. Instead, Bersih 3.0 should also be about concrete measures to address the existing election frauds that are so glaringly visible for all Malaysians to see, but which are invisible to the EC and Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Irrefutable evidence has to be gathered and compiled. For example, citizens should take it upon themselves to check with the Election Commission on the status of voters registered at their addresses. Any irregularity has to be reported immediately and catalogued with an impartial and independent body, not just with the EC or the police.

Citizens should be watch-dogs to the initiatives made by the EC to ratify the complaints made. The EC owes it to the people that their vote will be treated with the upmost care. EC must be constantly reminded that they are caretakers of the citizens' right to elect the government of their choice and not the EC's choice.

The Immigration Department should also be watched by the citizens of Malaysia with regards to its handling of illegals, who have made their way to Malaysia. As citizens, we need to protect our rights. The Home Minister, as the minister in charge of the Immigration Department, has to discharge his duties and put his country-men ahead of any other national who chooses to come to Malaysia.

Treason

Selling citizenship for votes is akin to high treason and the Immigration Department and NRD should not be partakers of this abuse.

Voter registration should be a citizen's initiative and not the prerogative of political parties. Bersih 2.0 has awokened many Malaysians, who have made a beeline to vote. This group should not be hindered, thus the EC should cut down on the lapse time it currently takes to certify an applicant worthy of voting.

At the moment, the EC takes three months to certify an application and even then there have been allegations that some registrations are not accepted even if the application is perfectly complete. This is due to the fact that only political parties are empowered to register voters. Opposition parties have long accused the EC of bias and that voters registered by them are either delayed or never approved.

Automatic voter registration is the way of the future, since it ensures that a Malaysian born of Malaysian parents will be automatically eligible to vote by the time he or she reaches 21. Rather than purchasing biometric machines, the EC should look at putting in place automatic voter registration. Citizens should petition the EC to implement automatic registration.

PACAs

Bersih 3.0 should also be about training Polling Agents and Counting Agents (PACA). It is about having the citizens be a part of the election process and not to allow it to be fully in the hands of the EC – who are definitely short-handed. PACAs are people commissioned by the contesting candidates to monitor the polling streams and the counting process at each and every polling station.

PACAs are powerful tools to ensure polling is fair as it provides a means for all parties involved to watch over the voting process. If there are ground for contention, PACAs can raise these points on the spot with the EC officer.

The recent ruling by EC that in future elections, PACAs cannot bring along their hand-phones into the polling station, seems to suggest the EC's uneasiness that those PACAs who are vigilant and alert may report immediately to their respective candidates or to their superiors if they spot irregularities.

Too patient

Bersih 3.0 should be more than just a march on the street. But make no mistake, a march it has to be if all reasoning fails. At the same time, Bersih 3.0 must evolve into a mature citizen's movement capable of initiating concrete changes. Politicians from both camps will continue to expose and rile up each other over their faults.

Citizens have been too patient. We know there are fraudulent practices in place and have had enough of the rhetoric and excuses from the BN as why it cannot to put in place better solutions, such as indelible ink.. What we want are clear and decisive actions that we, as citizens of Malaysia, can understand and accept.

The government will work hard to ensure that the problem faced by the people with regard to the cost of living could be tackled in the wake of the challenging global condition, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said it was the responsibility of the government to do whatever was best in tackling the rising costs and find ways of reducing its effects on the people.

He said the 2012 Budget would pay special attention on managing the people's cost of living and the government would draw up the best strategy to reduce the burden faced by the people and at the same time manage the country's economic growth.

Thus, he said, the government had announced the seventh National Key Result Area (NKRA), namely tackling the rising cost of living, this year, after taking into account the increased cost of food and essential items globally.

"In two years since the NKRAs were announced, the cost of living in Malaysia has risen to affect a majority of the population, in varying degrees.

"Many are feeling the pinch, but are not quite aware that this phenomenon is occurring worldwide, and hitting many other countries fairly hard.

"The fact is that so many global factors have affected our cost of living and the poor and developing countries are feeling the worst impact," he said in his blog www.1malaysia.com.my here today.

Najib said this would be the role played by the seventh and latest NKRA whereby the government would look into ways to improve the agriculture supply chain to ensure minimal food loss during the production and supply process.

He said the government would continue with the price control system and manage the subsidies, which were already among the highest in the world.

"We will expand Rakyat-focused initiatives such as the 1Malaysia Clinic, Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and most recently, the 1Malaysia Rakyat Menu. The latter is a programme to encourage food vendors to offer a package menu with a maximum price of RM2 for breakfast and RM4 for lunch at participating restaurants," he added.

The Malaysian Home Minister has come out with guns-blazing. He has lambasted the opposition parties and citizens aligned to the 'enemies' of BN. He categorically stated that there are Malaysians misusing the new media to spread lies. He went on to state that there are people outside the country who appreciate what Malaysia has to offer. And that Malaysians are not appreciating these at all.

Why is the minister harping on wanting to rest on his laurels? And why must he put down the dignity of the citizens and praise those who are not even in the country?

And along with that he also laced his words with threats that the police will have on record the citizens' particulars when they are hauled in for demonstrating – short of saying that citizens who demand transparency and accountability in governance are black listed.

Not undone yet, the minister concludes with an apparently contrite heart that the government has been slow in harnessing the new media to engage battle with the opposition parties and citizens who are on the opposition camp.

Now does it not amaze you that each time our ministers make a post-event comment or give an ultimatum, it suspiciously falls off the mark almost all the time. Even what is reported by the main stream media reveals these, in between the lines.

Now, ministers are there as ministers not to glorify party politics. They are there to serve the nation – all citizens irrespective of which political party they are aligned to.

So why does the Home Minister talk of doing battle with the opposition? If he wants to speak so then he must not be reported as the 'Home Minister' but a party politician. and such reports should be restricted to their own party organs – not the main stream media by any count.

The other gross missed mark is the minister's claim that Malaysians are not appreciating what they have. Again, is he speaking in defense of the citizens or is he voicing his total disgust with anything that is 'opposition'?

In the first place, citizens are only asking why can't Malaysia be better than what it already is. Is this aspiration to excel a crime? Is this not being loyal and patriotic towards nation-building? Malaysians from all walks of life are only asking the government to account in a transparent and responsible manner. They want to have a participatory role in decision making because they care for the future of this nation.

The ballot box is not the end-all for citizens' participation in nation building. They want to have a say and want to know and most importantly hold those whom they elected accountable to the voters. Now is this far too unbearable for our ministers?

And the government despite having all the main stream media in their claws, are still unable to convince the citizens – the tens of thousands for example who marched on July 9, 2011. What does this teach? Do you not recognize the learning opportunities here Mr. Honorable Minister?

Lest the Home Minster fail again, he must be told that the new media has become the alternate media for Malaysians simply because the main stream media is filtered beyond reasonable parameters. Is it not true? If no, then please explain why the editors must get clearance from your ministry for every single bit of news deemed 'sensitive' by your office and the powers that be?

This then is the first and foremost lesson to be learned when it comes to harnessing the new media. But it is sadly obvious the minister seems to have fixed his perspectives on doing a cyber war instead. How sad.

Civil disturbances never have a single, simple meaning. When the Bastille was being stormed the thieves of Paris doubtless took advantage of the mayhem to rob houses and waylay unlucky revolutionaries. Sometimes the thieves were revolutionaries. Sometimes the revolutionaries were thieves. And it is reckless to start making confident claims about events that are spread across the country and that have many different elements. In Britain over the past few days there have been clashes between the police and young people. Crowds have set buildings, cars and buses on fire. Shops have been looted and passersby have been attacked. Only a fool would announce what it all means.
We can dispense with some mistakes, though. It is wrong to say that the riots are apolitical. The trouble began on Saturday night when protesters gathered at Tottenham police station to demand that the police explain the circumstances in which a local man, Mark Duggan, had been shot dead by the police. The death of a Londoner, another black Londoner, at the hands of the police has a gruesome significance. The police are employed to keep the peace and the police shot someone dead. This is a deeply political matter. Besides, it is conventional to say how much policing in London has changed since the Brixton riots of the early eighties - but not many people mouthing the conventional wisdom have much firsthand experience of being young and poor in Britain's inner cities.
More broadly, any breakdown of civil order is inescapably political. Quite large numbers of mostly young people have decided that, on balance, they want to take to the streets and attack the forces of law and order, damage property or steal goods. Their motives may differ - they are bound to differ. But their actions can only be understood adequately in political terms. While the recklessness of adrenaline has something to do with what is happening, the willingness to act is something to be explained. We should perhaps ask them what they were thinking before reaching for phrases like "mindless violence". We might actually learn something.
The fierce conflict remains ahead
The profusion of images that modern technology generates makes it even more difficult to impose a single meaning on a complex event. Those who live in terror of a feral underclass and those who are worried about the impact of fiscal austerity on vulnerable communities can find material online that confirms their world-view. There will be a fierce conflict in the weeks ahead as politicians, commentators and others seek to frame the events of the last few days in ways that serve their wider agenda. The police, for example, will call for increased budgets to deal with the increased risks of civil disorder. In this sense, too, riots are inescapably political events.
There are signs too that technology is allowing individuals to intervene in the process by which meaning is assigned to social events. When disorder broke out in France in 2005 in somewhat similar circumstances the political right was the major beneficiary. Sarkozy's rise from interior minister to president owed a great deal to his role in expressing the anxious aggression of a mass constituency that often lived far away from the burning cars and public buildings.
In London today people were on the streets tidying up the damage. The hashtag #riotcleanup on Twitter is being used by councils and residents to coordinate the work. The decision to act in this way, to make the streets a little more safe, to reclaim them for peaceful sociability, steps away from the temptation to condemn the violence or explain it in terms that inevitably simplify or distort it. Those who come together like this will be less likely to conclude that the country is on the verge of chaos, less likely to call for harsh measures and the further erosion of liberty in the name of security. It is the one shrewd thing one can do in present circumstances and it is to be celebrated.
So there is no single meaning in what is happening in London and elsewhere. But there are connections that we can make, and that we should make. We have a major problem with youth unemployment. There have already been cuts in services for young people. State education in poor areas is sometimes shockingly bad. Young people cannot afford adequate private housing and there is a shortage of council-built stock. Economic inequality has reached quite startling levels. All this is the consequence of decisions made by governments and there is little hope of rapid improvement. The same politicians now denouncing the mindless violence of the mob all supported a system of political economy that was as unstable as it was pernicious. They should have known that their policies would lead to disaster. They didn't know. Who then is more mindless?
The global economic crisis is at least as political as the riots we've seen in the last few days. It has lasted far longer and done far more damage. We need not draw a straight line from the decision to bail out the banks to what's going on now in London. But we must not lose sight of what both events tell us about our current condition. Those who want to see law and order restored must turn their attention to a menace that no amount of riot police will disperse; a social and political order that rewards vandalism and the looting of public property, so long as the perpetrators are sufficiently rich and powerful.

On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered outside the Tottenham police station, peacefully calling for "justice" for Mark Duggan, a man killed by officers three days prior.
Police stood in formation, separating the community members from the station they were guarding, until a 16-year-old woman reportedly approached an officer to find out what was going on.
According to a witness account, some officers pushed the young woman and drew their batons.
"And that's when the people started to retaliate. Now I think in all circumstances, having seen that, most people retaliate," said the witness.
The "retaliation", from peaceful chants of "justice" in front of the police station, have since turned into massive groups of Londoners in numerous parts of the city who seem unafraid of breaking windows, looting stores, and burning buildings, doubtless causing millions of pounds' worth of damage.
Scores of businesses have been looted and international media continue to play images of smoldering buildings, in areas where firefighters were reportedly too afraid to enter – for their own safety.
According to witnesses and overhead helicopter footage, police have not been able to control much of the situation, and have repeatedly been forced into retreat by angry rioters.
"The kids realise the police can't keep control of it," said Bristly Pioneer, a Hackney resident and activist with the Space Hijackers, an anarchist collective focused on reclaiming public space. "And the kids don't give a f*** because no one gives a f*** about them."
"These kids have basically been abandoned – not even just the kids, whole communities have been abandoned by the rest of society," he added. "I can't say I'm surprised this is happening. It's been building for years."
Klara, an activist with Occupied London, a group focused on responding to the European austerity crisis, and another resident of Hackney, asked that her last name not be used. She told Al Jazeera: "It's a bubble of anger and anxiety and oppression that has to be burst."
"When you talk to people in the streets, they're extremely politically articulate. They know the problems in their community," she said.
In a video posted on The Guardian's website on July 31, youth in the London borough of Haringey described the effects of the closure of eight youth centres, a move they said led to a growth in gang membership and crime – as they and their peers have nowhere to go after school.
A week before any window was broken or store looted, one of the young people in the video said: "The government doesn't realise what they're doing to us". Another adds, "there's going to be a riot".
A tipping point
Tottenham, where Duggan was killed, is a Haringey neighbourhood which has among the highest unemployment rates in London - and a larger than average youth population. People of colour here have particularly felt the effects of deteriorating social services and targeted police harassment and violence, said author Richard Seymour.
"There's kids here who basically no one cares about, and nobody does anything for," said Seymour, a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics. "When the rioters themselves are asked, they will say that they are abused by police, harassed by them, and nobody's done a thing about it."
Seymour also explained that after many of the 333 deaths in police custody between 1998 and 2010 in Britain, "Large, peaceful protests in response [to the in-custody deaths] were more or less ignored" and not a single officer has been prosecuted.
As a result, Duggan's killing crossed a threshold for young people, angry with the systems that have left them behind, and tired of non-violent protest that goes without much response.
"I saw a whole load of kids, ranging from teenagers, and also grown-ups, in the streets. Most people seemed very happy, there were a lot of smiles in the streets, and a sense that people finally had control of something … And then there were people who were extremely angry at police," said Klara, the Occupied London activist. "It's just surprising that something like this hasn't happened before now."
Meanwhile, a local shop owner told Al Jazeera: "I'm very shocked … I'm so devastated. I don't know how to explain myself."
The chaotic situation has left many Londoners, and people around the world, wondering when the destruction will stop – and how the government will respond to the anger born out of alleged police racism, cuts to social services and unemployment.
Criminality
Just moments before Britain's prime minister made his first post-riot statement, Seymour told Al Jazeera: "The dominant response of the political class is to say it's all criminality … that's something that could undermine anything towards seeking justice."
The alternative, he said, would be "addressing the political crisis" on a deeper level.
David Cameron, the British prime minister, played the card Seymour had predicted, saying: "This is criminality pure and simple, and it has to be confronted and defeated."
London's acting police commissioner, Tim Godwin, agreed, saying: "This is not a game – this is criminality, burglary and violence … There can be no excuses for this behaviour." Calls to Scotland Yard went unanswered.
"Everyone is anticipating the probability of more violence as night approaches. Everyone has their theories about this, but I think one of their [the government's] main challenges will be to separate genuine grievance from simple copy-cat criminality," said Al Jazeera's Tim Friend, reporting from London.
But that would mean the government strongly recognises the 'grievances', which is far, at least, from the initial response.
In his first statement on the riot on Tuesday morning, the British PM said at least 450 people had been arrested for riot-related crimes.
Cameron also announced a massing of police officers, with numbers to be increased from 6,000 in the first three nights of rioting to 16,000 on Tuesday night.
"There will be aid from police coming from up and down the country," he said. "We will see that many more arrests will be coming in the coming days."
Speaking directly to those breaking the law, Cameron said: "Justice will be done … You will feel the full force of the law, and if you are old enough to commit these crimes, you are old enough to feel the full consequences."
Klara said that many people support the increase in police presence and hope that it will force the end of rioting, but warned that the support of intensive policing measures "could spark things off even more, because the police are exactly the problem in these neighbourhoods".
"It's hard to say what type of policing would calm things down and what type of policing would escalate it … When you're being harassed by police on a daily basis, you're no longer afraid of it."
Finding 'justice' in the rubble
With police absent or unable to control crowds in past days, reports have spread of communities banding together to defend their own neighbourhoods.
"There's a Turkish neigbourhood in Hackney that successfully prevented the rioters from destroying the area," said Klara.
Seymour described similar scenes of people standing outside their businesses with baseball bats, in a vigilante defence from lawless London.
"I talked to residents and they told me they will do the same if they don't feel like their livelihoods are being protected by the police," said Al Jazeera's Charlie Angela, reporting from Hackney,
In a different form of community defence, one of the highest trending hashtags on Twitter early on Tuesday was#riotcleanup, and many people used it to coordinate cleanup efforts in riot-hit neighbourhoods around London.
What has emerged due to rioting is a lawless sense that Londoners need to create response plans for when police are not able to handle a situation.
Klara said that more than ever: "There is a lot of debate in the streets. Everyone's talking about police killings, deaths in custody [and other social woes]."
Meanwhile, no one seems to support the destruction caused by the riots, but many believe that the situation is an expression of political anger.
When asked if the riots could lead to any positive outcome, Seymour said it already had, and described an interview he saw on television in which a rioter was asked the same question.
The rioter's answer: "Yes [it has been successful], because if we hadn't rioted, you wouldn't be talking to us now."

Sometimes A Nudge and Insult Is Necessary

I was reading Ambiga's interview with Malaysiakini just now. I must say that given of the past history of EC not really doing much in its electoral reforms, this has already raised the need of civil societies and election watchdogs to pressure, or in another word, "nudge" the commission to do as what they have demanded simply with the argument of that they have the similar role capacity of a federal court judge, as what she said.

The few paragraphs from the interview pointed to that above:

However, in a recent interview with Malaysiakini, Ambiga said she believes that the electoral reform movement must engage with the EC, and that the commission will change only under pressure from the people.

"I still have hope. I still have hope that things can move," she said firmly.

The former Bar Council president reiterated that the federal constitution places election commissioner on the same position as a federal court judge, therefore leaving the EC out of the picture of electoral reform would be a mistake.
"I think we probably have to do both (EC and ruling parties). The EC may feel they are powerless, we don't agree and sometimes it is a question of empowerment, and we have to keep persuading them that in fact, they have power more than they think they have.

"They are the body, in my view, it is their responsibility. Shifting the focus away from them would be the wrong thing to do because you are sending the message that they are not responsible for the state of elections in this country and I disagree with that.

"I think they are entirely responsible and there are many thing they can do and I think if they have to take a stand against the government, they have to do it because they are an independent body, they are the ones who should be doing it," she said.

And to cap things up very interestingly, Bersih 2.0 has given them exactly 90 days to implement the reforms as some sort of an ultimatum, not really, but I feel that it also adds to another way of nudging the Election Commission to do a lot clean up and fixing. Many have believed that Pakatan can win well in election, but if they lose, it's likely of the vote fraud and manipulation. Therefore, the ball is now in the EC's court. Now is the time. The chances of holding a general election end of this year has been stalled following the world market meltdown in the last 4 days. Almost RM 100 billion got wiped out in the local stock market. When this happened, all of Najib's economical programs will substantially delayed and the ETP being limped and dragged to next year at most - meaning no elections at this point of time and only next year

Interestingly. I feel that it is important to move one more level up. The level of awareness of fraud election and the mismanagement by the present government of the day at the rural areas is still at the unsatisfactory level. The main factor is no doubt the lack of access to alternative media whereas the national media is hogged with pro-government stuff. Therefore, what Wan Ahmad said of the present media being fair is not really accurate, but a mere excuse to skirt out of the eight demands that Bersih was demanding about.

It's true that currently Bersih's impact doesn't reach much in the rural area. There is a need to get people there to realize. I've noticed that PR has embarked on a strategy to coincide with the Raya celebrations. During the Tenang by-election campaign, several news reports have pointed out that voters there don't really give a damn or totally ignorant to the present problems faced - inflation, bread and butter difficulties, etc.. they just have the blind faith on the leaders. To some, relying on the profit of palm oil, rubber and so forth would not help much. With the kind of mindset, the country cannot progress that far.

Example of responses would include: "I don't know; I heard they wanted to demonstrate or whatever; I don't care about politics;" - and allow me to add to that - "Do I care?"

How are people going to convince these people of the mistakes that they are making? Didn't someone said of the saying "Blind faith to the leaders will get you killed?" From my understanding, the young who were originated from the rural areas have already started to educate their relatives, family and friends in the areas of new things that they ought to know. But the problem is of the mindset of unwilling to take in the eye-opening revelations. Excuses would come in the way.

So I think, that sometimes verbal insults have to be necessary to shake up and reveal things. It may be crazy, and yes some will call me crazy but sometimes it will get people to realize of their mistakes. I once recalled scolding an Indian amah during the Hulu Selangor by-election campaign, that when I read of the woman's laments of no help for the last 20 years despite repeated requests and yet voted for the same party over and over again. As the saying goes, if you don't like it, then change it. That got me wondering whether if it's lack of knowledge or blind faith that plays the scenario.

This is why I said that nudging and insult sometimes can be necessary, although it can be bad.

1st.world laws vs 3rd.world criminals

1.Riot :

a noisy, violent public disorder caused by a group or crowd of persons, as by a crowd protesting against another group, a government policy, etc., in the streets.
2.Demonstration:
a manifestation of grievances, support, or protest by public rallies, parades, etc.
3.Rally:
to come together for common action or effort.
4.Protest :
an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid.

Now which part of the 4 verbs and definitions above do simpletons not understand ? To compare and justify the riots in England (here) and the Malaysian BERSIH rally/protest/demonstration (here) in the same vein is utterly stupid. To say that there was violence by the protesters here in Malaysia is a blatant lie. I was there ( at least in one part of the city as you can see from the photos in the link which I snapped with my own camera !) so show me if the faces in the pictures looked thuggish or threatening in any way in any of the photographs.

The only aggression apparent here in Malaysia was the brute force of our police who for no reason and without provocation fired rounds and rounds of tear gas into peaceful marchers from all walks of life and jetted down on unarmed citizens chemical-laced water, charging into crowds to even kick, punch and beat many before arresting 1,600 in under 4 hours for being there to express and exercise their fundamental rights for a common stand as in Nos.2, 3 and 4 of the definition above and which so many arm-chair critics who were nowhere near the rally failed to understand but condemn the rally participants by reading what the government controlled media fed them.

Looking now at the scenes in London, me thinks our "trigger-happy" cops would have a field day mowing-down the unruly and wild mob of opportunistic looters with their guns and maybe would have even confiscated the "bounty" from the looters for themselves. Because English law prohibits the street cops from carrying arms but truncheons, many gangsters and looters there took advantage of the "1st world soft" approach of the bobbies and only when the situation now gets to an extremely high and dangerous level.....out comes the water-canons ! Can the same be said of our "thugs"-in-blue back home ? Here they conduct "preemptive" road-blocks and arrests days before a rally is due and frustrate the masses into believing the worst and then expect the non-participants to lay the blame on the rally-goers !

Well what can I say of the London rioters but it's a crying shame as the looters there were damn lucky we didn't dispatch our boys-in-blue immediately on Day 1 to merry old England to quell the situation sooner !

Find solution for the high infant mortality in Terenggannu

DAP National Deputy Chairman and MP for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw insists that there is an urgent need to find out the reasons for the high infant mortality (IMR) in Terengganu, then Malacca, Kelantan and Perlis compared with other states in Malaysia.

Having found the reasons such as poverty, we should then implement an effective solution to the problem.

On 10.8.2011, Dr Tan notices the findings of the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) on infant mortality in Malaysia.

The Director-General of LPPKN Datuk Aminah Abdul Rahman says that Terengganu has recorded the highest infant mortality rate in Malaysia with an average of 9.2 fatalities for every 1,000 newborns. Malacca is 8.4, while Kelantan and Perlis are 8.1. The national average is 6.2.

Why should states such as Terengganu have such high IMR? With revenues also from petroleum for many decades, the state income is relatively big. Why should there be severe poverty in the state?

We need detailed study of those states with high IMR so that we know the true causes. Then credible solution can be found.

Where’s the beef for Malaysia Airlines?

The snakeyest deal ever: Malaysia Airlines-AirAsia 'share swap' deal

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. The grin on Tony "Ular" Fernandes tells a thousand tell. But there's more to just the grin. If anyone care to look at this picture in almost all dailies in the country this morning, there is one glaring point which a strong message is being sent.

There are three Fernandes's logos in the backdrop; Tune Air, AirAsia and AirAsia X BUT there is only Malaysia Airlines's logo, stand alone. The organisers of this signing ceremony do not even have the audacity to include Firefly and MASWings logos on it.

Of course, so many persons also asked why should CIMB's logo on it as well? "They are just the advisers. They are not stakeholders".

This was and is our all time favourite to remind ourselves who Malaysia Airlines is

On behalf of many Malaysians and our readers here in BigDogDotCom, we only have questions. No answers and most of us started the guessing game. So who ever is close enough to Khazanah Nasional Bhd. management and of course the advisers to this 'share swap' deal for Prime Minister Dato' Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak, please answer these questions:

1. Where is the beef for Malaysia Airlines in this 'share swap' deal?

Seriously, Fernandes and friends get to own 20.5% of Malaysia Airlines, two very strategic seats on the BOD as non-executive and non-independent directors, seats in the Exco which will decide on operations and all decisions involving money and almost help themselves to the entire Malaysia Airlines as they like.

They already wanted to 'kill' the growingly popular Firefly, which is Malaysia Airlines's low cost carrier as a direct threat to AirAsia.

2. If this is 'share swap' deal, why isn't any of Malaysia Airlines BOD member(s) get to be on AirAsia BOD?

This is something strange. If this is a true 'share-swap' deal, then who is representing Malaysia Airlines's strategic interests in AirAsia. If there is none, how come?

3. How come Khazanah did not appoint anyone who have had relevant airline industry experience as non-executive-independent director in Malaysia Airlines BOD?

There are very experienced former airliners in likes of Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid who is now MD for Malaysia Airports Bhd., who was an Executive Vice President in Malaysia Airlines not so long ago and persons like these wealth of experience must come very handy for Malaysia Airlines. Unless Khazanah feels that a long time retired banker or satelite broadcaster is a more valuable personality and/or relevant experience to be in the BOD.

4. What is the 'value add' for Malaysia Airlines in this 'share swap' deal?

Malaysia Airlines have bigger international networks across five continents,codeshares and recent membership to One World alliance. That is without considering the fact that MH flies to very sassy destination like London Heathrow, Tokyo Narita and Los Angeles International, which AirAsia don't. So what is it with AirAsia that Malaysia Airlines would benefit from?

5. What is it in for Malaysia Airlines's 20,000 employees?

What would these people get from the 'share swap' deal and what will become of them. Will they still have a job after Fernandes are done with his 'butchery'?

6. Who else benefited from this 'share-swap' deal?

AirAsia's stock the last six months

It suspiciously looks like this 'raid on Malaysia Airlines' was planned carefully. First it was the appointment of former MITI Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and PM's blue-eyed-boy Omar Ong into the BOD. Then it was about trying very hard to get the 'replacement Labu'. Rumour has it that Fernandes 'threatened' to move his HQ to Jakarta was calling a bluff, as the prepatory work for the kill. More rumours about some people pushing up AirAsia's shares from RM 2.40 six months ago to RM 3.90 last week, so that they 'share swap' deal could be two-for-one.

Now compare that to Malaysia Airlines's six months ago price level. It was almost the same.

From where we are standing, it looks very suspicious. The modus operandi was similar when ECM Libra wanted to 'eat up' four times larger Avenue Capital Bhd, 'The sardine going after the shark'. Well, they were very successful with the authorities backing them up. Santayana said that people who did not learn for their past mistakes are doomed to repeat that again. In this 'share-swap' deal which was almost like a pirate raid, was inked in a manner probably because the majority of us failed to take note of what had happened in the past.

There is one thing peculiar about Malaysia Airlines, which should be pondered. For all the conspiracy theory pundits; former Chairman Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid was sent in a few months before AirAsia went listen of Bursa Malaysia. Conveniently, he exited a few weeks back. Please do the math.

We would like to quote The Edge's reporting on what Khazanah Managing Director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar's take on the 'share-swap' deal:

Azman said the transaction has been pragmatically structured in that the business models, brands, boards, governance structures and cultures will remain distinct and separate, but is now complemented by the comprehensive collaboration frame (CCF) work.

"They (the two airlines) are not combining, but competing in some cases and collaborating in some cases. Can you imagine the power of MAS' 13 million passengers and AirAsia's 39 million passengers a year. This is a very powerful combination.

"We don't have time anymore to look at petty things and differences. It's time to go forward," he added.

In addition, Khazanah also proposed to acquire 10% of AirAsia X on terms and at a price to be mutually agreed later. Azman said this would be done "quickly", adding that its investment in the aviation sector currently accounts for about 3% of its portfolio.

This 10% acquisition of AirAsia X is outside the 'share swap' deal. So the "Thirteen Million Plus Ringgit" question is:

1. How much is the acquisition will burn Khazanah's coffer?

2. Will CIMB be part of this acquisition advisory?

3. Will this acquisition, if and when it happens, be made known to public?

Malaysia Airlines's tagline used to be, "Going beyond expectations". Khazanah really gave Fernandes this tagline to come through. And for PM 'Flip-Flop' Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to play this 'adviser' role in seeing both parties get to deliver what they are supposed to is a really pathetic joke.

Just A Theory Why Anwar Not PKR Member

Recently I decided to tweet Anwar, supprisingly, he replied and said " no wonder you pening, no facts". It is obvious he is pissed about what I accused him and wrote in my blog. Then his "followers" decided to join in the fun by calling me names and whole bunch of bull. I replied to all by asking 1 question, "why is Anwar not a PKR member?", none of them answer. Not even Anwar dare to answer it too.

It seems my question cannot be answered by any of them and to my suprised, I got another message from another guy asking whether it is true that Anwar is not PKR member. I replied and told him that Anwar is not PKR member but I know many people would like to know why Anwar is not PKR member. There would be lots of questions to why Anwar not PKR member because he is the PKR "de facto" party leader after all.

Now, how can you be a "de facto" leader when you are not a member of the party? So what is the meaning of De Facto in politics? In politics, "a de facto leader is one who has assumed authority, regardless of whether by lawful, constitutional, or legitimate means; very frequently the term is reserved for those whose power is thought by some faction to be held by unlawful, unconstitutional, or otherwise illegitimate means, often by deposing a previous leader or undermining the rule of a current one. De factoleaders need not hold a constitutional office, and may exercise power in an informal manner".

To make it short and simple, Anwar can decide what he wants to do in PKR without being a member and will not be liable for his actions. So is this the leader you want to run the country? A leader without responsibility?

Is it clear now? Let me make it more clear. A person who can decide what to do and not held responsible is not good for a party or leader. Anwar have the support to be the PKR president but he don't want to, why? I'll get to that in short while. Anyway let me recap some of Anwar brief "contribution" to Malaysia as per wikipedia (Let it be known that wikipedia is NOT UMNO controlled media, that is a fact!":

1. From 1968 to 1971, as a student, Anwar was the president of a Muslim students organisation, Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM). Around the same time, he was also the president of Persatuan Bahasa Melayu Universiti Malaya (PBMUM). He was one of the protem committee of Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) or Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia which was founded in 1971. He was also elected President of the Malaysian Youth Council or Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM). Very ambitious young man with leadership charisma of simply power crazy?

2. In 1974, Anwar was arrested during student protests against rural poverty and hunger. This came as a report surfaced stating that a family died from starvation in a village in Baling, in the state of Kedah, despite the fact that it never happened. He was imprisoned under the Internal Security Act, which allows for detention without trial, and spent 20 months in the Kamunting Detention Centre. See how Anwar created lies in order to shame the nation.

3. In 1968-1971, he was first groomed in the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students (Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia, PKPIM) as the president of the Union. Despite his aggressiveness, he is still a favourite candidate for PKPIM, why? It is easy, he talks a lot.

4. In 1982, Anwar, who was the founding leader and second president of a youth Islamic organisation called Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), shocked his liberal supporters by joining theUnited Malays National Organisation (UMNO), led by Mahathir bin Mohamad, who had become prime minister in 1981.

5. He moved up the political ranks quickly: his first ministerial office was that of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in 1983; after that, he headed the agriculture ministry in 1984 before becoming Minister of Education in 1986. By then, speculation was rife about Anwar's ascent to the Deputy Prime Minister's position as it was a commonly-occurring phenomenon in Malaysia for the Education Minister to assume the position of Deputy PM in the near future.

6. During his tenure as Education Minister, Anwar introduced numerous pro-Malay policies in the national school curriculum. One of the major changes that he did was to rename the national language from Bahasa Malaysia to Bahasa Melayu, Isn't that racist?.

7. Non-Malays criticized this move as it would cause the younger generation to be detached from the national language, since they would attribute it to being something that belongs to the Malays and not to Malaysians.

8. In 1991 Anwar was appointed Minister of Finance. In 1993, he became Mahathir's Deputy Prime Minister after winning the Deputy Presidency of UMNO against Tun Ghafar Baba. Tun Ghafar was a gentleman and UMNO strongmen but he was defeated by Anwar money politics and backstabbing deal. YES..this is the era where money politics started! It was started by Anwar!

9. There is report on Anwar using large cash payments to win support. Anwar is alleged to have resorted to money politics to secure his position as deputy president of UMNO. Anwar's followers were witnessed by even foreign journalists handing out packets of money to acquire support of UMNO division leaders. These followers are said to be working under Anwar's instructions.

10. Anwar was being groomed to succeed Mahathir as prime minister, and frequently alluded in public to his "son-father" relationship with Mahathir; in early 1997, Mahathir appointed Anwar to be acting Prime Minister while he took a two-month holiday. During this time, Anwar started his campaign to bring down Tun Mahathir...more money was spent and guess where it come from? Yes, it comes from projects awarded to his cronies. That was in 1997, now in 2011, Anwar get his money from foreign funding (CIA & Israel) and from milking the state government assets, contracts and savings.

11. Towards the end of the 1990s, however, the relationship with Mahathir had begun to deteriorate, triggered by their conflicting views on governance. In Mahathir's absence, Anwar had independently taken radical steps to improve the country's governing mechanisms which were in direct conflict with Mahathir's capitalist policies. Issues such as how Malaysia would respond to a financial crisis were often at the forefront of this conflict. Anwar may be outspoken but he is no accountant or understand finance!

12. Anwar's frontal attack against what he described as the widespread culture of nepotism and cronyism within UMNO (and the ruling coalition as a whole) angered Mahathir, as did his attempts to dismantle the protectionist policies that Mahathir had set up. "Cronyism" was identified by Anwar as a major cause of corruption and misappropriation of funds in the country. See how Anwar manipulate and disguise his own doing by blaming others? Yes, that is Anwar gift! He can tell you lies and make you believe it is a fact.

13. During the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis Anwar, as finance minister, supported the International Monetary Fund (IMF) plan for recovery (remember when bank loan interest went up as high as 20%?). He also instituted an austerity package that cut government spending by 18%, cut ministerial salaries and deferred major projects. "Mega projects", despite being a cornerstone of Mahathir's development strategy, were greatly curtailed. By cutting all these, Anwar thought he can stop or kill Tun's in his tracks. Making Tun a failure as leader that was the main attention. While doing so, Anwar uses the people suffering which was inflicted by him to force Tun into early "retirement".

14. Although many Malaysian companies faced bankruptcy, Anwar declared: "There is no question of any bailout. The banks will be allowed to protect themselves and the government will not interfere." Anwar advocated a free-market approach to the crisis, including foreign investment and trade liberalisation. Mahathir blamed unchecked currency speculators like George Soros and supported currency controls and tighter regulation of foreign investment.

15. In 1998 Newsweek magazine named Anwar the "Asian of the Year". However, in that year, matters between Anwar and Mahathir came to a head around the time of the quadrennial UMNO General Assembly. The Youth wing of UMNO, headed by Anwar's associate Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, gave notice that it would initiate a debate on "cronyism and nepotism". The response was swift, as Mahathir issued lists of cronies who had benefited from government share allocations and privatisations. The list included Anwar and Zahid, along with several of Anwar's other allies. So who actually practise cronyism..Mahathir or Anwar?. Zahid quickly change side and untill now he existed in UMNO. Zahid is one of the torn in UMNO today and continues to support Anwar descreetly, after all, Zahid owes Anwar big time!

16. In the list, Anwar's father and his two brothers are shown to have received shares allocated by the government for the bumiputra. His father Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman and his brothers, Farizan and Marzukhi, hold shares amounting to more than 7.1 million units in three companies.

17. On 2 May 1998, Dato' Ibrahim Abdul Rahman owned 250,000 shares of Pengkalen Holdings Berhad and 3,790,500 of Nissan Industrial Oxygen Incorporated. Farizon owned 250,000 shares of Pengkalen Holdings Berhad. Marzukhi owned 2,800,000 shares in Penas Corporation. In the list, Ibrahim Abdul Rahman owned 2,000,000 shares in Industrial Oxygen Incorporated Bhd in 1993.

You see, Anwar did a lot of contribution. He introduced cronyism, money politics, high interest rates, sabotage, sodomizing young men / women (regardless you are married or not) and reaping wealth for his own family. Still not convince Anwar NOT a good leader? Well, you must be saying by now that Anwar was frame and should fight for his injustice, right? Around this time, PKR was born.

A party established for the injustice caused by Mahathir to Anwar. PKR is not formed for the good or betterment of Malays but for the glory of one person. Hmm, I have never heard a party formed for the sole of one person but then again, we are in Malaysia and Malays are very gullible people, they just love Anwar charisma as Anwar is good in portraying himself as religious person, after all, he was the ABIM leader, so he must be pure and free from sin!

UMNO was formed to fight for Malaysia Independence, protecting Malay rights and making sure all Malaysians get a fair share of the country wealth. What does PKR fight for? Fight for a guy who WILL repente his wrong doings? Another interesting facts we must acknowledge, almost 90% of PKR members are UMNO rejects! Those who stayed behind in UMNO and did not followed Anwar are just oppurtunist or too scared losing their positions. They would abandon anyone without hesitation, they just don't have the loyalty!

Okay, by now you must be tired and really want to know why Anwar is not PKR member. I got a theory and would just love to share it with you. If Anwar or his Anwarista's follwers are reading this, ask yourself why Anwar is not a PKR member when you are one.

1. Anwar want to become PM one day. He missed his oppurtunity and now out with a vengance! The only way he can be PM is by JOINING UMNO! Yes! that is the truth!

2. Anwar cannot be PM with PKR because UMNO still have Malay majority. After all PKR is just a small party with only 500k members compare to 3.5 million UMNO members.

3. The only way he can "forced' his way into UMNO is by creating a divertion or "smoke screen". PKR is his tool of choice. He have already have few friends that willing to help him. These friends are planted in UMNO.

4. Anwar's UMNO friend (known to many as KJ) manage to get him free and even rush to the airport, just to send his passport so he can go for his "neck" treatment in Germany.

5. Anwar's UMNO friends too managed to break the Malay voters by dividing the Malays with such issue as religion, Malay rights and more. You may not realized this but since Pak Lah took over as PM, he got special advisor to advise him on what to do, and this so called "advisor" was known to be Anwar's daughter exboyfriend but decided to jump ship when Anwar was sack from being DPM.

6. Then more of his UMNO friends decided to start "cancer" virus within UMNO so it look like UMNO is breaking up. Well this tactics works and we can see the result in PRU 12 where BN lost many states.

7. So when UMNO is desprate to gain back the voters, Anwar expect UMNO will bow down and plea bargain a deal with him to join UMNO..BUT can this work?

8. By now some of Anwar cronies are holding high position in UMNO. If they allow him to come back, they would have to be "demoted" or maybe stab from behind by Anwar because they abandon him when he was sack in 1988.

9. So what to do? Anwar making more threats and pushing his luck by becoming PR leader. WAIT! How can he be a leader of PR when he himself does not belong to any party? Can you see the pattern now?

10. Anwar want to keep his option open and hope UMNO will crumble in the near future and offer him to comeback to UMNO so he can proclaimed as savior of the Malay race.

11. Can this be done? He is not getting any younger, so he need to do something fast and decisive. What can he do?

12. In desprate attempt, Anwar decided to play the religion, race and some blackmailing card! He supported Hindraft cause which is totally opposite his stands when he was the ABIM president (I must remind you, he abandon ABIM and join UMNO).

13. Anwar can agrees with DAP about abolishing the Malays right (again against his early ideals)

14. It seems Anwar willing to do anything as long as he can shake and force UMNO to take him back. He don't care what happen to the country, he just want to achieved his objective no matter what it takes.

15. Anwar is full of tactics and knows the government would hesitate to act against so called peaceful demonstrator. So a plan must be hatch in order to make sure people still remember Pakatan Rakyat. Why need to remind the people? Well, the people now enjoy better economy and frankly speaking, the government manage to answer all the people's issues. Action was taken and people are more happy BUT this does not go well with Anwar, so he need a scape goat and BERSIH was born. BUT there's another problem, if the rally is only supported by non Malays, a tragedy and anarchy can happen, so Anwar bring in the extra actors aka PAS and PKR...with Malays being divided and manipulated, it was very easy to use them as shield for his BERSIH rally...everyone knows that Malays will not fight with Malays...so Anwar's plan was well choreographs, or was it?

16. Anwar knows that it is difficult to bring in money and buy his way in UMNO. If he is allowed to bring in money and start his old habits, we will see UMNO crumbles as we must remember that Anwar still have cronies in UMNO.

UMNO members need to open their mind and thinks ways how to make sure this sodomizer would not get back into UMNO. He can die as PKR "de facto" leader but not as UMNO member.

JK Disiplin DAP pecat tiga ahli

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Ogos: Jawatankuasa Disiplin DAP memecat tiga ahli parti itu berkuatkuasa serta merta kerana melanggar disiplin parti.

Pengerusinya, Tan Kok Wai berkata, ketiga-tiga mereka adalah Puah Ju Kian (Cawangan Telok Gadong), Yap Kon Min (Serdang Bahru) dan Tan Chew Wah (Kampung Baru Balakong).

Puah Ju Kian didakwa salah menguruskan hal ehwal cawangannya, Yap Kon Min pula didapati salah membuat kenyataan yang salah secara berulang kali terhadap pimpinan DAP manakala Tan Chew Wah pula didapati bersalah dan secara berulang kali membuat kenyataan buruk secara terbuka terhadap pimpinan DAP.

Menurut Tan Kok Wai yang juga anggota Parlimen Cheras, Jawatankuasa Disiplin DAP telah mengadakan perbicaraan terhadap ketiga-tiga mereka pada 5 Ogos lepas di Ibu Pejabat DAP dan penjelasan mereka tidak memuaskan hati jawatankuasa kerana ia telah memburukkan kepentingan parti itu.

"Ekoran pemecatan ini, ketiga-tiga mereka tidak lagi berhak mewakili DAP dalam sebarang urusan atau bertindak sebagai ahli DAP.

"Bagaimanapun mereka boleh membuat rayuan dalam masa 14 hari terhadap keputusan ini kepada Jawatankuasa Pusat Parti berdasarkan perkara VII para 3 Perlembagaan DAP," katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

LONDON: Syarikat insurans dipercayai menanggung pampasan puluhan juta paun berikutan rusuhan selama tiga malam di London dan beberapa bandar utama Britain lain.

"Terlalu awal bagi kami untuk memberi gambaran tepat mengenai jumlah kos, khususnya kos gangguan perniagaan.

"Syarikat insurans kini bertungkus-lumus menguruskan tuntutan yang diterima," kata jurucakap Persatuan Syarikat Insurans Britain (ABI), Nick Starling, semalam.

Bekas Pengerusi BMF Lorrain Meninggal Dunia

KUALA LUMPUR 10 OGOS : Bekas pengerusi Bumiputra Malaysia Finance (BMF) Lorrain Esme Osman dilaporkan telah meninggal dunia di London kelmarin.

Dipetik Utusan Malaysia hari ini, kenalan Allahyarham Datuk Zuraidah Atan berkata, beliau mendapat berita mengenai kematian Lorrain menerusi panggilan telefon daripada seorang rakannya dari London.

"Saya diberitahu bahawa beliau meninggal dunia akibat kanser," kata beliau.

Difahamkan Lorrain sedang dirawat di sebuah hospital di London ketika itu.

Zuraidah yang juga Penasihat Kehormat Majlis Kanser Kebangsaan berkata kali terakhir beliau bertemu dengan Allahyarham pada 2009.

Lorrain, 79, bekas peguam yang kemudiannya menjadi ahli perbankan terlibat dalam skandal BMF yang menggemparkan negara melibatkan RM2.5 bilion pada 1980-an.

Beliau dibebaskan dari penjara Hong Kong pada Ogos 1993 selepas menjalani hukuman penjara setahun.

Lorrain mengaku bersalah atas tuduhan berkonspirasi memberi pinjaman kepada sebuah firma diketuai oleh bekas ketua Kumpulan Carrian, George Tan.

Najib gagal uruskan ekonomi

Angka-angka ekonomi terkini yang baru diumumkan membayangkan ekonomi negara akan terus malap; selain dari kerugian ratusan bilion ringgit yang dialami pelabur di Bursa Kuala Lumpur sejak Jumaat lalu.

Keputusan agensi pelaburan dan penganalisa pasaran memotong unjuran pertumbuhan ekonomi negara di bawah paras 5% bagi tahun 2011 menjadi tanda-tanda bahawa dasar dan inisiatif ekonomi yang menjadi tonggak pentadbiran Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak (seperti Program Transformasi Ekonomi, Rancangan Malaysia Kesepuluh dan Model Ekonomi Baru) telah gagal sejak dari awal-awal lagi.

Jika prestasi ekonomi terus malap seperti yang diunjurkan, Program Transformasi Ekonomi akan gagal sebelum memasuki tahun kedua kerana ia mensasarkan pertumbuhan ekonomi 6% setahun untuk mencapai sasaran Pendapatan Kasar Kebangsaan (GNI) per kapita sebanyak RM48,000 menjelang 2020 yang diwar-warkan. Pertumbuhan ekonomi tahunan di bawah angka 5% setahun bermakna Program Transformasi Ekonomi telah gagal menarik minat pelabur walhal kerajaan menumpukan sepenuh tenaga, fokus dan jentera kerajaan untuk mempromosikannya. Jika ia gagal menarik perhatian dalam tahun pertama dan di kemuncak promosinya, bayangkan keadaannya 2-3 tahun akan datang.

Prospek yang malap ini akan diburukkan lagi dengan keadaan tidak menentu yang dialami Amerika Syarikat dan negara-negara Eropah. Pakar ekonomi dunia sependapat bahawa krisis hutang di Eropah akan mengheret 3 ekonomi terbesarnya iaitu Itali, Perancis dan Jerman ke kancah kekalutan ekonomi seperti yang dialami oleh negara-negara Eropah lain. Jika ini berlaku, prestasi ekonomi Malaysia akan turut terkesan dan memburukkan lagi angka pertumbuhan ekonomi tahun-tahun akan datang.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak juga perlu menerima hakikat bahawa pentadbiran beliau telah gagal mencapai sasaran pelaburan swasta yang ditetapkannya sendiri dan diumumkan sebagai strategi utama beliau menghidupkan kembali pertumbuhan ekonomi Malaysia. Sebelum ini, PEMANDU dengan gah mengumumkan bahawa 92% daripada dana untuk melaksanakan projek-projek di bawah Program Transformasi Ekonomi bernilai ratusan bilion ringgit akan dibiayai swasta.

Namun, sumber dana untuk membiayai projek-projek utama yang diumumkan masih diselubungi rahsia. Setakat ini, 77% daripada 10 projek terbesar yang diumumkan di bawah Program Transformasi Ekonomi akan dilaksanakan dan dibiayai oleh syarikat berkaitan kerajaan (GLC).

Analisis 10 projek terbesar seperti berikut akan membuktikan bahawa pentadbiran sekarang masih menggunakan kaedah pergantungan kepada wang rakyat untuk mewujudkan peluang ekonomi, tetapi kini ia disalurkan melalui GLC:

Setakat ini, 10 projek terbesar di bawah Program Transformasi Ekonomi menelan pelaburan RM142 bilion, iaitu 82% daripada keseluruhan pelaburan projek-projek yang telah diumumkan berjumlah RM173 bilion. Hakikatnya, 77% daripada 10 projek terbesar di bawah pelan ekonomi Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak sebenarnya menggunakan dana awam melalui GLC dan membuktikan bahawa sasaran 92% pembiayaan swasta itu tidak lebih dari angka-angka untuk kempen politik yang sudah tentu tidak akan dicapai.

Prestasi 3 penanda aras ekonomi yang paling utama (iaitu kekalutan di Bursa Kuala Lumpur, unjuran pertumbuhan yang semakin rendah saban hari dan kegagalan menarik pembiayaan swasta bagi projek-projek utama di bawah Program Transformasi Ekonomi) sudah cukup untuk membayangkan kegagalan dasar dan inisiatif ekonomi Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Malangnya, prospek ekonomi murung yang menyelubungi Malaysia adalah berlainan sama sekali dengan prestasi ekonomi Indonesia. Pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia terus meningkat pada kadar 6.5% suku yang lepas dan dijangka mencecah 7% tahun depan. Pada masa rakyat Malaysia bergelumang dengan kadar inflasi tertinggi dalam tempoh 2 tahun, Indonesia pula mencatatkan kadar inflasi terendah dalam tempoh 14 bulan yang lalu. Sementara kadar kenaikan gaji hanya menokok pada angka 2.6% sahaja bagi pekerja Malaysia sepanjang sedekad yang lalu, pekerja di Indonesia menikmati kadar kenaikan gaji tahunan 10% sejak tahun 2006.

Sudah tentu ada perbezaan yang nyata dari segi pendekatan ekonomi sehingga mengakibatkan prestasi yang berlainan seperti ini. Pemerintah Indonesia mengalu-alukan reformasi dan keterbukaan sejak tahun 1998 lagi, berbeza dengan Barisan Nasional yang mencari seribu satu alasan untuk memadamkan api reformasi yang dituntut rakyat sehingga mengorbankan prestasi ekonomi negara.

Baiknya keadaan ini tidak akan berterusan kerana lebih ramai rakyat boleh menilai sendiri bahawa reformasi ekonomi hanya boleh berlaku seiringan dengan reformasi politik, selaras dengan pendekatan ekonomi yang diperjuangkan Pakatan Rakyat.

GOMBAK 10 OGOS : Timbalan Ketua Pengarah Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM), Datuk Prof Dr Zaleha Kamaruddin dilantik sebagai Rektor Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) yang baru berkuatkuasa hari ini.

UIAM dalam satu kenyataan hari ini berkata, Zaleha dilantik menggantikan Datuk Seri Prof Syed Arabi Idid yang tamat tempoh sebagai Rektor pada 1 Jun lalu.

Zaleha yang berkelulusan Ijazah Kedoktoran (Undang-Undang) dari Universiti London pernah menjadi Dekan Kuliyyah Undang-Undang Ahmad Ibrahim di UIAM, menurut kenyataan itu.

"Zaleha juga pernah berkhidmat di IKIM selama dua tahun secara pinjaman berkuat kuasa 2 Ogos 2009 hingga 1 Ogos lalu menggantikan Datuk Nik Mustapha Nik Hassan yang dilantik Ketua Pengarah IKIM.

"Beliau memulakan kerjaya sebagai Penolong Pensyarah di Kuliyyah Undang-Undang UIAM pada tahun 1985 dan kemudian dilantik sebagai Pensyarah di Kuliyyah yang sama pada tahun 1988," katanya.

Menurut kenyataan itu, beliau pernah memegang jawatan sebagai Timbalan Dekan Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Timbalan dekan Pusat Penyelidikan UIAM.

Zaleha, anak kelahiran Raub, Pahang, banyak menghasilkan buku, artikel dan penyelidikan berkaitan undang-undang dan juga memberi khidmat perundingan kepada kementerian, jabatan dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO).

Pada Mac 2009, beliau menerima Anugerah Tokoh Pendakwah Negeri Selangor daripada kerajaan negeri.

Syabas YB Zulkifli Noordin

Thanks to regular commentor 'A Good Man Does Nothing' for highlighting this today. I went over to YB Zulkifli Noordin's Blog as suggested by 'Good Man' and read this : WHY NOT ME?

YB Zul has put forth some very pertinent legal issues about the ongoing liwat drama in the Court. It does not take long to read Zul's article. Do read it.

Just to refresh your memories, until Saiful Bukhari made that Police Report, Zulkifli Noordin was one of Anwar Ibrahim's most trusted aides and friend. Few people know the inner workings as well as the details of Anwar Ibrahim's shenanigans as well as Zul Noordin. He reveals some of these shenanigans in this article. I have truncated Zul's article down to some main points here.

Mungkin ramai yang akan terpinga-pinga kenapa Mat CD dan juaknya Karpal Singh nak memanggil PM sebagai saksi mereka kerana ramai yang tidak faham apa kaitan PM dengan liwatan Anwar terhadap Saiful. Bak kata seorang kawan, "dia yang sedap menyondol, PM nak kena pikul!".

Apa pembelaan Anwar? Alibi - beliau mendakwa tidak ada ditempat kejadian. Anwar berhadapan dengan satu masalah besar untuk menafikan dia tidak ada ditempat kejadian.

Jadi apa relevannya Mat CD nak panggil PM sebagai saksi? Anwar tidak pernah kata pada masa kejadian dia sedang bermesyuarat, atau makan kuaci dengan PM. Atau pada masa kejadian Datin Sri Rosmah sedang masak nasi untuk dia dan Wan Azizah makan. Itu maksud pembelaan alibi. Maknanya dia tiada ditempat kejadian tetapi sebaliknya mendakwa sedang berada dengan PM dan Datin Sri Rosmah.

Teman kenal Anwar ni yop. Pada perbicaraan tahun 1998, kami merancang memanggil YAB Tun Mahathir...Apa tujuan nak panggil Tun M dan lain-lain tu? Ringkasnya bak saperti kata Anwar sendiri, "kita pulun mamak kutty ni dalam Mahkamah!".

Yang peliknya, kenapa Anwar tidak berani panggil bini dia sendiri sebagai saksi? .... mungkin Wan Azizah boleh datang dengan pakai jam Omega.

Teman bertambah pelik kenapa saksi alibi saperti Haji Hasanuddin, Mohd. Sani dan lain-lain juga perlu diminta melalui Mahkamah. Mereka ini adalah kawan-kawan Anwar. Persoalannya, mengapa Anwar perlu memohon Mahkamah supaya mereka ini, kawan-kawan dia sendiri, hadir dan datang beri keterangan untuk dia. Apakah mereka pun dah cabut dari Anwar?

Dan bertambah-tambah teman pelik kenapa teman sendiri dan rakan-rakan lain tidak dipanggil sebagai saksi? Contohnya:

1. Rahimi - Rahimi yang rekemen Saiful bekerja di pejabat Anwar. Rahimi telah membuat lapuran polis yang beliau disuruh membuat Surat Akuan Sumpah palsu untuk mengaitkan YAB PM dalam kes liwat tersebut. Mengapa Anwar tidak memanggil Rahimi sebagai saksi?

2. Rasid - Rasid juga telah membuat lapuran polis beliau disuruh buat Surat Akuan Sumpah palsu berkaitan kes liwat terhadap Saiful ini. Kenapa Anwar tidak memanggil Rasid, rakan banduan penjara Sg. Buloh bersama dengan Anwar dahulu?

3. YB Senator Ezam Mohd. Nor - bekas Ketua Pemuda PKR, mantan panglima kanan Anwar. Saiful berjumpa dengan Ezam menceritakan bagaimana dia diliwat oleh Anwar. Mengapa Anwar tidak mahu memanggil Ezam sebagai saksi?

5. Anuar Saari - bekas pegawai khas Anwar. Beliau boleh berikan keterangan mengenai pengalaman "ngeri" yang beliau lalui bersama Anwar.

Teman juga mahu bertanya, mengapa Anwar tidak mahu panggil teman sebagai saksi? Teman bersedia bila-bila masa. Malahan teman cabar Anwar dan Karpal supaya memanggil teman sebagai saksi.

2. Teman juga akan ceritakan apa berlaku dalam bilik hotel Quality Inn, Shah Alam malam 28.06.2008 itu selepas Saiful membuat lapuran polis itu.

3. Teman juga nak ceritakan kepada Mahkamah apa yang dibincangkan malam itu. Bagaimana Rahimi dibawa datang ke Quality Inn Hotel malam itu?

4. Teman juga akan menceritakan kepada Mahkamah bagaimana timbul kisah Anwar nak lari ke Turki, kemudiannya ditukar ke Kedutaan Turki, kemudiannya ditukar ke rumah Duta Besar Turki. Kenapa Anwar nak lari?

Teman cukup yakin Anwar akan mencari jalan menangguhkan kes dia sehingga ke PRU 13. Sebab dia berharap akan menang pilihanraya ke 13 dan jadi PM, dan lepas itu bolehlah semua kes dia ditutup; dan kalau boleh sumbat Saiful (dan juga Datuk Eskay) dan yang lain-lain dalam tahanan. Itulah yang dibuatnya terhadap Umi Hafilda & Azizan pada tahun 1997, sehingga menyalahgunakan pihak Cawangan Khas PDRM untuk menyumbat Umi & Azizan kedalam tahanan dan membuat surat Akuan Palsu untuk melepaskan Anwar. Itulah sebab YA Augustine Paul menyumbat Anwar ke penjara Sg. Buloh selama 6 tahun, kerana menyalahgunakan kuasa mengarahkan Cawangan Khas PDRM mendapatkan akuan Palsu daripada Umi & Azizan!

I find the following points by YB Zul Noordin quite interesting :

4. "...bagaimana timbul kisah Anwar nak lari ke Turki, kemudiannya ditukar ke Kedutaan Turki, kemudiannya ditukar ke rumah Duta Besar Turki. Kenapa Anwar nak lari?"

I suppose there was no Air Asia flight leaving for Turkey that evening. Who knows, now with Air Asia acquiring and bailing out MAS, more flights may be available to Turkey. Maybe if there is a third round, the clown will fly the coop?

This following point by YB Zul is also very interesting :

Do you all remember just a few weeks back Anwar's driver made a delayed Police report (delayed by about three weeks) that someone had tampered with the brakes or wheels on Anwar's car in an alleged sabotage attempt? Its the same Sani fellow - Anwar Ibrahim's driver of 28 years. And Hasanuddin is Anwar's very close buddy who is the owner of the two condo units which he allowed his "beloved Anwar" to use for his "rest and recreation".

And yet, Anwar has to apply to the Court now so that he can interview these close friends of his - Hasanuddin, Sani and others. Isnt this totally strange? They are not 'close friends' anymore ?

Not only these guys, but now Anwar has also had to apply to the Court to be able to interview the people whom he had cited as his own main alibi witnesses !!! Here is a report from The Star about this strange development as well :

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim filed a second notice of motion within a week at the High Court here and this time he wants the court to issue an order to interview 10 witnesses, including two Indonesian maids, whose names he had listed in his alibi notice.

In the application filed Monday morning via Messrs Karpal Singh & Co, Anwar named the two former Indonesian maids of Hasanuddin Abd Hamid, owner of the condominium unit where the incident allegedly took place. One of the maid was identified as Suliati, while the other was Fitria Dipan. Eight others named were :

1. Abdullah Sani Said (Anwar's former driver)

2. Mokhtar Mustafa

3. Nik Mahmood Nik Hassan

4. Noor Sham Abdul Hamid

5. Prof Dr Mohamd Ariff Abdul Karem (ex-executive director of MIER)

6. Mohd Khoharullah Abdul Majid

7. Raymond Yeoh Cheng Seong (banker)

8. Omar Malek Ali Merican, former COO, Bursa Saham Malaysia, .

To quote Zul Noordin again : "Mereka ini adalah kawan-kawan Anwar. Persoalannya, mengapa Anwar perlu memohon Mahkamah supaya mereka ini, kawan-kawan dia sendiri, hadir dan datang beri keterangan untuk dia. Apakah mereka pun dah cabut dari Anwar?"

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Ogos: Dewan Pemuda PAS Kawasan Titiwangsa menemui lima lagi pengundi bertindih di parlimen itu dalam semakan terbaru mereka melalui web Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR).

Kesemua mereka mempunyai dua kad pengenalan baru yang nombornya berbeza namun mempunyai nombor kad pengenalan lama yang sama.

Antaranya individu bernama SA'AD BIN SAMSUDIN, yang memiliki dua kad pengenalan baru iaitu 380913105681 dan 510913105553 tetapi nombor kad pengenalan lama yang sama iaitu 1479323.

Beliau mempunyai dua hak mengundi iaitu di Parlimen Titiwangsa dan Parlimen Setiawangsa.

Kes kedua membabitkan seorang wanita SHODAH BINTI ABDUL RAHMAN juga memiliki dua kad pengenalan baru berbeza iaitu bernombor 550620055800 dan 560620055412 tetapi nombor kad pengenalan lama yang sama iaitu 4802777.

Beliau juga mempunyai kelayakan mengundi dua kali di Parlimen Titiwangsa.

Kes ketiga, seorang lelaki bernama MOHAMAD BIN ISMAIL, memiliki kad pengenalan lama bernombor 8370614, tetapi mempunyai dua kad pengenalan baru, iaitu 540405025757 dan 540405025095 dan memilik hak kelayakan mengundi di Parlimen Setiawangsa dan Parlimen Titiwangsa.

Kes keempat iaitu melibatkan seorang lelaki bernama ANDERSON A/L P ARPUTHANATHAN. Beliau memiliki nombor kad penganalan lama yang sama iaitu A0831847, tetapi memiliki dua kad pengenalan baru yang berbeza iaitu 671117106499 dan 671117105963.

Beliau juga mempunyai dua hak kelayakan mengundi iaitu di Parlimen Setiawangsa dan Titiwangsa.

Kes kelima, juga dengan memegang kad pengenalan lama yang sama iaitu 7877951, beliau ini mempunyai kad pengenalan baru yang berbeza iaitu 491006045672 dan 491006015094. Pengundi perempuan ini bernama CHELLAMAH A/P MURUGESU boleh mengundi di Parlimen Setiawangsa dan Titiwangsa.

Ketua Pemuda PAS Titiwangsa, Mohamad Suhaimi Abdul Aziz berkata kesalahan tersebut merupakan perkara sangat serius dan tidak boleh dipandang ringan.

"Dengan lima contoh yang didedahkan ini, cukup untuk membuktikan bahawa memang terdapat usaha untuk membolehkan seorang pengundi mengundi lebih dari dua kali. Lebih dari itu, ia membuktikan bahawa usaha ini berjalan secara terancang di seluruh negara.

"Jika ini merupakan suatu kecuaian, kecuaian ini sememangnya tidak boleh dimaafkan kerana ia boleh menyebabkan berlakunya penipuan dalam sistem pilihanraya di Malaysia," katanya dalam satu kenyataan kepada Harakahdaily.

Selain mahu nama-nama tersebut disiasat oleh JPN dan SPR, mereka juga mahu kedua-dua pihak yang bertanggungjawab itu membuat penjelasan kenapa perkara tersebut boleh berlaku.

Kegagalan memberikan penjelasan munasabah kata mereka, hanya akan mengesahkan dakwaan banyak pihak sebelum ini bahawa sememangnya terdapat komplot pihak tertentu memanipulasi daftar pemilih demi kelangsungan politik mereka.

"Kita juga mendesak agar JPN menyiasat identiti kesemua individu yang didedahkan ini dan menarik balik kad pengenalan yang dikeluarkan lebih dari satu untuk seorang.

"Mungkinkah wujud kad pengenalan palsu yang diberikan kepada setiap pengundi ini, bagi membolehkan mereka mengundi 2 kali? kerana ada kad pengenalan tersebut tidak ada dalam senarai jabatan Pendaftaran Negara," tegasnya.

Anwar Dibenar Hadir Temubual Saksi

KUALA LUMPUR 10 OGOS : Mahkamah Tinggi hari ini membenarkan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hadir dalam setiap temuramah peguambela ke atas 15 saksi pendakwaan.

Sesi temubual semalam tergendala apabila, Bekas Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Musa Hassan dan bekas Ketua Polis Melaka, Datuk Mohd Rodhwan Mohd Yusof enggan ditemuramah, jika Anwar hadir sama pada sesi temubual kes fitnah liwat II tersebut.

Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi, Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah bagaimanapun berkata, Anwar hanya hadir dalam temubual itu namun tidak dibenarkan menyoal saksi.

Peguam Anwar, Karpal Singh berkata, Anwar sebagai yang dituduh dalam kes ini berhak untuk hadir sama dalam setiap sesi temubual saksi.

"Sebagai tertuduh, beliau ada hak untuk berada di situ," kata beliau kepada wartawan di kompleks Mahkamah Jalan Duta hari ini.

Pihak pembelaan yang diketuai oleh Karpal kini dijadualkan mewawancara 10 saksi hari ini.

Bagaimanapun senarai itu tidak termasuk nama Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, dan isterinya Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor mahupun Musa yang juga antara saksi yang ditawarkan oleh pihak pendakwaan.

Karpal bagaimanapun menegaskan bahawa semua 15 saksi yang dibekalkan itu perlu ditemubual segera.

"Kami akan terus mewawancara mereka. Kami mahu selesaikannya dalam minggu ini. "Biar saya terangkan dengan jelas, kami mahu temuramah mereka secepat mungkin. Semalam kami sudah mahu mula. Saya tidak faham kenapa Pendakwaraya membantah kehadiran Anwar," terang Karpal.

Mahkamah sebelum ini telah menetapkan tarikh 15 hingga 26 Ogos untuk pihak pembelaan mengemukakan hujah pembelaan.

Pengedar Harakah maut kemalangan

TEMERLOH, 10 Ogos: Aktivis PAS yang juga pengedar Harakah daerah ini, Zulhazmi Norwawi, 39, kembali ke rahmatullah kira-kira jam 5 petang semalam setelah van dipandunya terbabas di Lebuh Raya Pantai Timur (LPT) berhampiran Sungai Dua, Karak.

Menurut keluarga terdekatnya, Allahyarham memandu bersendirian dalam perjalanan pulang dari Kuala Lumpur setelah membeli barang-barang untuk perniagaannya ketika kemalangan.

Tambahnya, van jenis Nissan Vannete yang dipandu Zulhazmi terbabas di tempat kejadian lalu melanggar pokok dan beliau meninggal dunia serta merta sebelum dibawa ke Hospital Bentong.

Jenazahnya sempurna dikebumikan di Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kuala Kerdau jam 1 pagi tadi.

Zulhazmi yang merupakan AJK MTD Kuala Semantan berasal dari Kampung Kelebang, Kerdau dan kini menetap di Paya Pulai, meninggalkan seorang balu dan tiga orang anak kecil berumur antara tiga hingga 11 tahun.

Bantuan mencari gadis hilang

KAMPAR, 10 Ogos: Orang ramai diminta membantu mencari gadis, Seri Najwa Ferda, 17, yang dilaporkan hilang pada 4 Ogos lalu di Tualang Sekah, Malim Nawar.

Menurut abangnya, Ameerul, gadis yang berketinggian 156 cm itu dipercayai membonceng motosikal yang ditunggang seorang lelaki kira-kira jam 6.00 pagi.

Katanya, kehilangan adiknya itu telah dilaporkan kepada pihak polis.

Sehubungan itu, ujarnya mereka yang mempunyai maklumat berhubung adiknya itu boleh menghubunginya di talian 017-5351451 atau ibunya, Puan Seri Wang (017-5999137) serta Sarjan Norhisham (019-5162896).
